Spend a few hours watching channels like WPIX'x Antenna network, a place where I'm getting my daily dose of shows like Maude and Benny Hill, then go back to what's passing for regular broadcasting and you'll need to keep the suicide hotline number handy.

 

The pathetic demise of Discovery, The Learning Channel (let's face it, as soon as they started referring to themselves as TLC you could smell the books burning!) and The History Channel still stands as the best example that posterity will have of that time when our culture began it's slow slide into the dustbin.

 

Jesus, when I was in my early teens, I remember watching Carmen on this awesome channel called Bravo.  Carmen!  The fuckin' opera!! 

 

Dusk darkens into night.  Yet night eventually becomes dawn.  Until then, I'll just lament our culture wide celebration of banal mediocrity and ostentatious stupidity.
