I'm intrigued by the after-the-fact nature of the casting of the vocal talent.  Was that always the plan with these characters?

Apparently not. I saw on Twitter (long after writing the story) that they based Tomar-Re on Anthony Hopkins and originally sought him for the voice.  So it is an afterthought, as it were, which is definitely not the way I thought they'd do it.

Interesting.  I have to assume that they give the newly hired vocal actors SOME leeway in their line-readings instead of having them try to match the lip movements of characters that have already been animated. 


But all within the span of 2 months before its release date?
