4 Minutes of footage (with HD screencaps), an interview with the producer

Can they please get that mask off him?  Comic faithfulness be damned, he looks much better without it.

In addition to not looking like finished FX, it's just so bright.  Feels like it would look ok if it was a little darker.

Otherwise, I'm really looking forward to this now.  I wish Campbell's and his crew a lot of luck in getting all that stuff done in time for release.  They've got an uphill battle to climb with so much craziness potentially turning away audiences.

I'm officially pumped. I love all that crazy space crap, and it looks like Campbell is goin' hogwild with it. This shit is almost a Lensman movie! Yeah, I'm in.

I get why they went with the whole Hal Jordan: Cocky Pilot angle for the first trailer, but I think fans were left wondering if this movie was gonna miss the point. Now that shooting has wrapped and it's in post, some of this footage needs to get into theaters fer real. Viral marketing on fb and twitter is only gonna get them so far.

Ya, this definitely got my interest much more than the trailer. Hoping the script works and some of the more ridiculous CGI gets polished. One thing that's really working for me is Sarsgaard. Dude looks mean.

My faith was well placed it seems....

I'm ok with the mask, but the pastel easter egg eyes that go along with them are freaky.

I've never been a huge fan of the character, but this footage makes the movie look like it could be a big, fun cg space adventure movie. The scope seems to be putting Thor to shame.

Yeah, out of all the shots that one with the eyes made me cringe the most.

Reynolds' eyes were freaky when he was reciting the Green Lantern Corps oath, too.

The effect wasn't very well done.  In that shot posted, it looked like his eyes were CGI floating in his head.

The digital mask doesn't even go over his nose properly.  It's like the mask goes down while his nose goes up.

As far as I'm concerned, this looks a million times more entertaining than CAPTAIN AMERICA and THOR combined.

The suit and mask still look really goofy - in fact a lot of the CG characters do too - but I expect Ryan Reynolds' general Ryan Reynoldsness to at least make the first couple of acts enjoyable. I can't help but love that guy. Damn Canadians.

Of course, it'll shit the bed in the third with a run-of-the-mill bunch of punches and splosions, like these movies always do, but I already know that, so I won't cry about it when it happens.

Not for me, I really like Thor's dopey arrogance in the newest trailer. I mean, Green Lantern is ultimately just another in a looooooooong line of Chosen One movies, where average geek gets powered up and the rest of us average geeks get to latch on vicariously, but as a character Thor looks like much more of a recipe for entertainment and a point of difference in the wildly oversaturated superheroverse.

Seriously.  Thor looks like a cheap Cinemax movie.  CapAm looks like it could be good, but it could also be a tired WW2 movie.

This is better than the first trailer, but I'm still not sold.  I don't know if I can even articulate why this film just isn't doing it for me yet.  I haven't read Green Lantern comics, so I'm just going on what I've seen from the trailer and this footage, and what I've seen is a lead character that I'm not intrigued by in the slightest, a villain that looks like something from Power Rangers, and some wonky CG.  You can fix wonky CG, but a wonky story?  Can't do much for that.  Again, I don't know the history of the character, nor do I know for a fact that this film's story is wonky.  There's a possibility that I could see this film and enjoy it.  It's just that right now, I'm not impressed.

Well that's just shot this movie up my anticipate-o-meter. Nice to see DC represent in such a Marvel filled year. That simply looks like great fun. Martin Campbell really seems to be able to play in almost any genre sandpit and Reynolds just has so much damn charm to burn.

The first uttering of the Lantern Corp pledge got me a bit I have to say.

Hooollllleeeee SHIT.....SOLD!

Don't want to nit pick...the mask DOES look off, I feel maybe the way it cruves UP so much over the eye-brows is a small problem. Wish it was a tad flatter, but they are trying to make it stylish and stand out more. And is it just me, or is it creepy how much Mark Strong looks just like Sinestro in the comics? Creepy in a good way, just wierds me out how much they nailed him. Still, this looks damn good and my worries are gonzo. Cap is still my #1 choice, but GL has separated himself from Thor (and I'm STILL looking forward to Thor).

I've never found Green Lantern interesting.  Why would I want to read a comic about some guy and his magic flashlight?  This footage gives me pause, however.  It makes the film look like a great time at the movies.

What Green Lantern and Thor appear to have is an epic scope. Just the scale of the visuals are enough to get my money.

It looks like a PS3 game.

What's the point of a CGI suit, again?

It's either going to be so bad it's good or a shit stain; either way, it'll be in the Wal-Mart discount bin of death within a year of its release.

Looks fuckin' awesome. I'm sold.

And yeah, this looks about 10 times better than Thor. Cap could still be the champ though.

Again, Thor is so damn lucky to have that early May slot. If it doesn't deliver, it's got enough distance to not embarrass itself. Green Lantern has no net, so all this stuff has to work. It at least looks like they're really going for it, and for that alone, I hope they pull it off.

The scale is really the big selling point for me too. That and Ryan Reynolds. The character CG in this footage looks like a video game cut scene from 2006 but I still hope they spend a bunch of time in that alien world and show us round a bit, cause I'm a sucker for that.

I actually think Thor looks quite good, but this surprised me. The scale looks different and impressive. The hardcore scream at the end was a bit odd though, and there's barely any Blake Lively there (her line reading was so bad in the previous footage I am still really unconvinced by her.

Nice footage. Really showcases WHY you make a Green Lantern movie.

If only I could be sold on Ryan Reynolds and Martin Campbell not being a boring-ass director-star combo.

I don't know why they didn't just have him wear pilot googles.  It'd enable him to have a secret identity and not look so ridiculous.

Other than that it looks like a CG mess.  Despite this it still looks cosmic and cool.  I like the ambition.  But as others have said, I wonder if this ambition and scale will impress the layman.  I can see the cartooniness and weird looking aliens being a real turn off for many people.  Hopefully, this is not the case.

That trailer turned me around on this film. Never cared for the character until the "Emerald Twilight" story line which was an awesome story (subsequently undone by a shitty re-boot of course) and haven't read any other stories that match that one. The first trailer for this film looked too much like they were aping Iron Man, but this one...looks like it'll be epic...just hope they are still working on that CGI.. 'cause man...

Had to come out of hiding to say how much I like this trailer. I loved the Hal Jordan GL when I read him back in the 70's. Ryan Reynolds looks close enough to my Hal Jordan to get me to see this the first weekend. I don't  realy care if this becomes a franchise or not.  Just pumped at the idea of seeing GL on the big screen. As for Thor and Cap A--they might get my money.

Am I the only one who thinks they're trying to pull a fast one on us with this footage? My gut tells me we're seeing 90% of the film's "cosmic" stuff in this couple of minutes of footage. A brief scene of exposition on Oa and some extraterrestrial members of the Green Lantern corp fighting Parallax in the third act does not an epic make. That's just my feeling, though.

Well, I am very familiar with the comics. If the movie is as true to the source material as that bit of footage suggests, then we're in for some pretty unusual summer blockbuster fare. And that's awesome.

shiny. hopefully there is some depth to be had, but It'll look great on a big screen.

Cap still looks to be my most anticipated this summer so far.

I dig Reynolds delivery here. The oath just gave me chills. Both times.

The FX work looks weightless and fakey though. And the "no iris yes pupil" thing is bizarre. Should have just gone normal eyes or whitish overall. Not a mix.

Reynolds' delivery bugs the crap outta me. It comes across as less "I'm talking to a lantern..." & more "I'm on a movie set, talking to a lantern".

With regard to the milky pupils & green mask: yeah, they do look..off but it appears that Reynolds' GL is more or less a straight lift from the design in GL: First Flight

gl-hologram.jpg

And if that's not all that was lifted from GL:FF then, holeee sh*t, Campbell's GL might just knock it out of the park.

I don't mind the milky pupils. They should be. But they didn't for RR. Iris yes, pupils no. Scroll up to see the pic with the clearly BLACK pupils. CG that shit over if you don't want to blind the poor guy with contacts.

And I dug FF, so yeah, looking forward to this live action version. Michael Clark Duncan's no Michael Madsen though. ;)

Yikes, you're right, those beady black pupils on RR look creepy as hell.

1000x500px-LL-acc2a941_gleye.jpg

..and wow.. that mask, while shaped like GL's in FF, still looks like a child's first crack at photoshop. Terrible.

Forgot to mention earlier... was at WonderCon and wasn't able to make the panel. :(

Also: Just rewatched the footage. Goosebumps at the oath. Again. Every time.
