I love this movie.  Cordier's progression from lazy fool to where he ends up is such a fascinating look at the nature of evil.  And Noiret, Huppert, and Audran are all phenomenal.  By the end of the film I imagine Cordier as a exhausted devil, who would snuff out humanity in its entirety, but he just doesn't have the energy to care... or maybe we're not even worth that much effort.

I wasn't expecting much, to be honest, but I was pleasantly surprised. Very interesting decisions with the setting/locale.
