See an HD trailer for Von Trier's latest.

Whatevers going on, that was a thing of beauty. I'm in the moment it opens here!

Not surprisingly, this looks amazing.  No one can capture "Dread" with a capital "D" better than Von Trier.  My only tiny concern is if Dunst can match the level of talent surrounding her.

I have no idea what the fuck is going on, and I couldn't be more anxious to see this thing.

If anything, just to see Von Trier put the fear of an angry cinematic God into Dunst.

Looking forward to it. Though I have to say, I kind of feel like the "planet's going to hit us" aspect comes across almost silly out of context. I'm almost certain it won't feel that way fleshed out, just feels weird as presented in this trailer.

I always have the same reaction to a new Lars Von Triers film. One half of my brain screams "Oh, God, another lot of affected doom and gloom" and the other half says "Fuck, that looks nice, and (insert actor's name) is really going to the wall, here" (I find that I'm increasingly aggravated by the propensity for artists and audiences to mistake darkness for depth). I'm not sure if I'll ever *love* a Von Triers film, or even gain a high degree of anticipation for one, but I'll probably always appreciate and make the time for one. If that makes any sense.

Also, Wagner is always nice.

This.  And to be honest, I'm curious to see if the payoff to the long-standing Dunst Nudity Watch is worth it.

I haven't seen all of Von Trier's films, but, for me, the thing that mitigates that factor with someone like him, or Herzog (or Lynch, or Cronenberg) is that they're not afraid to make the "affected doom and gloom" strange... sometimes even funny.

For example, people make the "chaos reigns" fox into a joke, but it was already a joke-- just one that wasn't drained of dread and creepiness.

"White people problems" just got galactic.

I almost expected Charlotte Gainsbourgh to say to Dunst, "You look incredibly depressed. Say, listen, I have this cabin where we can get some R&R if you want..."

Looks beautiful. Also Dunst looks interesting (not speaking of the nudity but that doesn't hurt) something that I haven't said in eons.

Hasn't Dunst been nude before? I don't recall a title, but I'm pretty sure having seen her undressed. I mean, visibly, not as in Marie Antoinette.

I'm pretty sure she hasn't, but I'd be happy to be proved wrong.

She's topless in (the aptly named) All Good Things.
