AN UNCOMFORTABLY HONEST MOMENT WITH MICKEY ROURKE

There’s not much to this other than the few disbelieving chuckles you can get out of it, but Vulture caught up with Mickey Rourke at the Scream 4 premiere to ask a few questions. Instead of getting his thoughts on horror movies, they ended up with an unexpected dump of honesty from the man with … Continue reading

Good stuff Mickey. Reminds me of when Megan Fox herself shot a few straight ones a while back and told the truth about Transformers.

Yeah, but Fox has a vagina, so that's not allowed. In all seriousness, I don't really think this sort of thing should be celebrated. It's bad form regardless of the product. Who gives a damn if he's being sincere when all of his co-workers, people who probably busted their asses everyday to make the best thing they possibly could, have to hear Rourke effectively trashing their work. If he thinks it's shit, fine, just don't promote it, talk about something else, or just wait until the thing is out and dead or whatever.

Also, please remember, cinematic history is riddled with actors who have little good to say about such and such film they were in, even when said films are highly praised. Not saying that's true about whatever Rourke is up to, but my point remains.

"it seems Mickey is confident that he can shit talk his smaller, dumber films and be fine- and he’s probably right. "

I'm going to disagree. He's not bankable, he's difficult to work with, and he's genuinely, deeply weird. Not in the cuddly matured Johnny Depp way, but in the geez-you-might-slam-a-broken-bottle-into-my-face way. Those aren't qualities that endear you to major film studios - especially the not-bankable part.

Good point.

I do think at this point both Mickey and producers know you're gonna get this from him when you hire him. That being said, if he's on-point, I am disappointed to hear "13" isn't good, because that had a great cast. Also, would have loved to hear his thoughts on his upcoming "Immortals" or what he thought about "Iron Man 2," especially the latter since it always sounded like he was bending over backwards to say nice things about the role.

I misread the Facebook post for this article as saying "AN UNCMOFORTABLE HONEST MOMENT WITH MICKEY MOUSE." Which I would've reposted the shit out of.

Back in the day, he kept his disdain for HARLEY DAVIDON & THE MARLBORO MAN inside, and it almost destroyed him. The truth, as they say,  shall set you free, so you go, Mickey!

"I had a threesome with Petunia Pig and Mrs. Beakley. It was like sticking my dick in a Christmas ham buried in a soggy memory foam pillow, I tell you what..."

I think Rourke is a genuine guy and I respect him for it. Who is he pissing off exactly?

Maybe every single person who worked on those films? He's not only throwing their work under the train but neither film is out yet so he could actually hurt their chances at the box-office. It's a very selfish "I've got my money, who gives a shit about anyone else?" attitude. It's not even as if he was asked about the quality, he actually went out of his way to let people know how shit he thinks the movies are.

13 has been out over here for ages. It's quite a piece of shit. It's also a cynical "remake" of a much better French movie.

So, of course Rourke, "Mr. Genuine", apologizes for his statements. He's a wonderful actor, I like the guy as a performer, but really, he's a garden variety asshole like anyone else, and bad press and the danger of burned bridges put the fear into him.

I don't think it was her vagina that fucked her over so much as it was her mouth comparing her director, a director who plucked her from obscurity and launched her to worldwide fame, to HITLER.  Rourke does nothing remotely close to that here.  He said some of his movies suck.  Big whoop.  Tons of people have done that without any blowback.  Fox launched a personal attack on Bay.  Not the same thing at all in my eyes.

Yeah I have to be honest, I have no problem with Rourkes comments here, in fact I find them pretty refreshing personally. The people that are being lamented about in this thread as having worked so hard on these movies probably have a pretty good idea they were dogs as well, I don't see Rourke as trashing all their hard work, they got paid didn't thy? He's hardly attacking them personally.

Sometimes films turn out not very good, regardless of how hard the best boy or head chef for the catering department may have worked. I personally think Rourke is more than entitled to that opinion without it being seen as some 'attack on the little guy' or whatever.

OMG, NOT HITLER!!!

Bay's a big boy. If he could handle making her audition by washing his Ferrari he could handle her mouthing off about his manner and the artistic value of the Transformers films. Nothing she said had a single negative effect on viewing numbers for those movies or anybody who worked on them. Except for her.

It was totally her vagina.

Now let's get back on topic and talk about Rourke's vagina.

It's sandy.

Rain Dog makes a solid point. Bad films happen and actors come out and say things. Its the nature of the beast.

Saying that Fox's gender had nothing to do with how she was treated is absurd. The same people that went "Shut up, twit" to what she said, praised both LaBoeuf with Indy 4 and Rourke now for "saying it like it is."

I didn't have a problem with what Fox said at all. I just found it to be not very intelligent for someone who is still so young in the business.

Shia has chilled alot more and I think has made similar mistakes.

Yeah but the thing is, you know Fox's comments made their way all 'round Hollywood and whatever the original intent, Bay was embarrassed. And at some point, he or the Studio said "this actor is more trouble than she's worth". Plus I'm sure Bay is very aware that he is not viewed as an artist, so when one of his own cast (and an actor he made no less) disses him or is seen to diss him in public, he had to take action.

That, and when a man speaks up in Hollywood he's being honest, when a woman does it she's being shrill and opinionated.

Let's not pretend there's no double standard here.

The sexism issue is further complicated by the fact that...

FLEEDSPEAK

Megan Fox is much more... Expendable than Mickey Rourke!!

This seems odd to me Rourke has chops and on any set is a true acting talent. Fox is not and never has been. Meryl Streep shit even Marisa Tomei she isn't.

There are actresses that speak their mind few have ever done so with as little big studio experience as Megan Fox.

I don't think her comments were that bad but lets face it Bay doesn't utilize female actresses so well they are practically wallpaper in his films.

Fox lost a paycheck who cares. This model so called actress in Transformers 3 isn't going to become Angelina Jolie or even Claire Danes for that matter.

What a strange thread.
