I was very excited to see the American Reunion movie. I saw American Pie just after college and remembered it was quite funny. Jim, Michelle, Oz, Heather, Stifler reunite for their high school...

Not sure I quite understand this. Changed names, as in "witness protection" or "Bizarro versions"?
Gans' flick was a mix of the deft and daft. These stills are intriguing. I'm in.

If they're running with Silent Hill 3's storyline all the way, Heather Mason's father changes her family's name after they escape Silent Hill to keep the cult off their ass.
Still have nothing but love for the first film. Hopefully Gans and Avary being out doesn't mean they're half-assing this this.

I really wanted to like the first SILENT HILL movie, because they mainly got the atmosphere right, and I'm a huge fan of the video games.. But I just didn't care for it too much. I have more hope for this one..
I still don't understand why they don't adapt the second game into a movie. The story is compelling enough to be directly lifted from the game.

I wanted to like the first movie, but it really just earns the dubious distinction of being one of the best video game movies ever made. It's not terrible, but it could have been so much more, and to see Gans' hard work building such a great atmosphere ultimately not pay off in any effective or impactful way was a disappointment. I won't expect greatness from the sequel, but it looks like they're at least taking strides to ensure that that atmosphere remains intact.

I agree with you, Agracru. It is probably one of the better video game adaptations, which honestly isn't saying much. My issue with the first movie was that it lacked that sense of dread and despair that the games carried in spades. To do the video games justice, the next movie has to be genuinely creepy and disturbing throughout. The first movie was boring unless a monster was on screen.

My issue with the first one was the ridiculous cult scenes in broad daylight. Those scenes were laughable. Not threatening at all, even if they burned someone alive. Glad they met their barbwire-end post haste.

Yet another huge problem I have with the movie. The whole cult thing is a half-assed attempt to bring some truth and reality to the town.. To answer all the questions in an attempt for a "safe" ending completely ruins the ambiguity of Silent Hill.. The best part of the games was that creepy sense of the unknown.
To spell everything out in the end was one of the biggest mistakes the movie could have made for me.
