Transgender Woman Attacked At Baltimore McDonald's

I know it's Baltimore and all, but what the fuck is wrong with people? In a related article, one of the attackers may have made the absurd excuse to the police that the attack was over the victim using (or trying to use) the women's restroom. Reminds me of a conversation I had with a girl who told me a story about being in a gay club and getting into an argument with a transgendered person whom she admonished for using the women's restroom. I spent a good ten minutes trying to explain to her all the ways in which she was wrong, but she persisted in her belief. On top of that, the transgendered person was an employee of the club. Pretty dumb.

Of course, Fox News puts scare quotes around "woman" and calls the victim a "male crossdresser."

 

By the by, there have actually been cases of genetic women being bashed because they were mistakenly assumed to be transgender. So this isn't just "their" problem. Until everyone's free, nobody's free, and all that.

Christ.  Why did I open this thread?  I knew I'd be pissed. 

 

I'd like to see charges brought against the asshole who filmed it.  It's part of a problem I have with Americans (probably followed by the kooky dispassionate Japanese in close second) and their fucking all-in-one cell phone/camera/video game/gps/dildo's.  This idea of always needing to be recording an experience instead of actually, ya know, experiencing it.  Trained by television to be nothing but passive monkeys these people have no idea how to actually be part of the human race anymore.

 

Every time I go to Hawaii, I hit the Polynesian Cultural Center for their incredible show.  And every time you have to deal with a sea of cell phone screens as people stare mouth agape at their little 9 inch screens instead of actually watching the fucking show right the fuck in front of them.

 

And if you the think the bigot quotient has reached it's apex, just wait until the election season really takes off.  Half of this country will stop at nothing (and stoop to anything) to keep a nigger from getting a second term in high office.

 

I'd like to end this sanctimonious rant on a light note by quoting Malcolm McDowell in Fallout..."How did it come to this America?"

No one should be violently attacked. What happened here was completely wrong.

 

But...THE PERSON IS NOT A WOMAN. This shit drives me crazy. I think everyone should respect everyone. My brother is gay, and I have no problem with gay people. But if you're born a guy, you are legally a guy, no matter how much you feel like a woman on the inside. If you're born a woman, you're a woman, no matter if you want to be a guy, or feel like a guy, or get surgery. It may not be fair, but that's how it is. No matter how much Michael Jackson bleached his skin he was still African-American. No matter how much he wanted to be a child, it was still inappropriate to share a bed with children.

 

I don't really care that this particular guy used a women's bathroom, or even if he (allegedly) hit on some girl's boyfriend, but really let's be sane here - he is a guy. I'll call him a she if he wants me to, or whatever, but no matter who calls him a she, we all know he's a guy. When is it okay for a guy to use a girl's restroom? When he dressed like a girl? After he has surgery? Or just when he feels like a woman on the inside? I don't know, I'm just curious

Transgender isn't a gay/straight issue, so whether your brother is gay or not isn't relevant.

 

If your brother was a MTF transgender, you might have a better insight into it.

 

As for "legally still a guy," that depends what state you're talking about. Country, too.

In my book, if you go so far as to have surgery to change your sex, you can damn well use whatever bathroom your new sex requires.

This kills me too, but I don't know that I think of it as an American thing. It's more of a 21st century Western world thing.

Yeah, it looks like the bathroom thing started it. Also, there's a little character assassination of the victim going on, a rap sheet with prostitution charges, disorderly conduct, and all that; can't even fathom how any of that shit even matters. The video is pretty disturbing. Some people half-heartedly attempt to help her, but the majority just stand around and let it go down and laugh. There are far worse things that happen everyday, but this isn't some chaotic melee w/ a score of bodies, where you're trying to get your bearings on the situation, this is one human being getting the shit kicked out of them for no reason. It doesn't take an "S" on your chest to snap out of it and do something.

I can't watch the video, because I'm a real life violence wussy, but reading all the articles and your comments is so upsetting.  If even an old lady tried to help and got shoved and all the other people stood around and watched that makes me so sad for humanity.  How anyone can laugh when someone is being attacked is frightening to me. WTH is wrong with people?  Other than the passive monkey thing, of course, though I don't attribute that wholly to television, or America.
