Simultaneously interesting and disappointing news from camp PTA.

It's a shame Elswit's not involved, but there's far more excitement to be had than disappointment here. 65mm plus a new DP means lots of new possibilities for PTA. Maybe after the success of ...Blood he's feeling the need to shake things up rather than stick with the established formula and risk complacency? Whatever the reasons behind this turn of events, it's an exciting prospect.

I was pretty disappointed with the fact that I couldn't sense any tangible difference from Inception's use of 65mm film.  I was never clear about whether or not it was due to the fact that my eyes simply weren't trained to see the difference.

But if a technical choice like this gives guys like PTA some artistic fire... BY ALL MEANS!

I'd want to see someone use that super 70MM widescreen that was used on Ben Hur. It's so stretched out that it screams EPIC. It's 2.76.1. Normal "scope" widescreen is 2.35:1, 2.39:1 and 2.40:1. I salivate at the possible framing of a movie using 2.76:1. So much could be fit in.

With that headline I expected a theatrical sequel to 8MM.

Pitch could've been that Nic Cage's character investigates into a snuff tweet that makes rounds.

Push it to Ultra Panavision 70 ratio of 2.89:1!!! ;)
