I don't know what's more laughable here, the fact that Trump becomes a pissy schoolgirl when his statements over the past few weeks are succintly summed up as bull or the flabby insult itself.  Apparently, if you question Trump, you have to be near the level of Albert Einstein to be taken seriously.  Newsflash, Donald:  you're not even in the box when it comes to bulbs.

The war of words began on Saturday during a discussion with NBC News' Brian Williams at the Tribeca Film Festival when the actor was asked about the recently averted government shutdown. "I won't mention names, but certain people in the news the last couple weeks, just, what are they doing? It's crazy. They're making statements about people that they don't even back up," the actor said, according to Movieline. "Go get the facts before you start saying things about people."

Williams asked if he was referring to Trump, who has become very vocal about questioning if President Barack Obama was born in the United States.

"Any of those people have shows on my network on Sunday night?" the NBC Nightly News anchor asked.

"It's like a big hustle. It's like being a car salesman. Don't go out there and say things unless you can back them up," De Niro continued. "How dare you? That's awful to do. To just go out and speak and say these terrible things? Unless you just wanna get over and get the job. It's crazy."

On Monday, Trump fired back during a phone interview on "Fox & Friends".

"Well he's not the brightest bulb on the planet," Trump said of De Niro. "I've been watching him over the years and I like his acting, but, you know, in terms of when I watch him doing interviews and various other things, we're not dealing with Albert Einstein."

If you guys recall, Trump also had a public brawl with Jerry Seinfeld after Seinfeld, who was set to appear in person at an event for St. Judes with Trump and his son, pulled out after Trump's comments about Barack Obama's birth certificate, feeling that he would not be comfortable publicly appearing alongside Trump.  Trump went fairly apeshit, dragging Seinfeld's new show into the discussion (calling Seinfeld out would have been sufficient, albeit still questionable, but of course Trump has gotta overcompensate and make it even more personal), despite the fact that Seinfeld still contributed donations himself.

can be said about Trump. I mean how hard is it to take billions and turn them into millions?

haha, Fox & Friends... an intellectual kiddie pool in the water park of socio-political discourse.

Amusing, but not surprising that he'd feel compelled to respond. Insecurity is Trump's life story.

It is so much fun watching Trump getting his ass handed to him every week over this issue.   The conspiracy theorist in me still believes that Trump is a secret Democrat.   I mean how funny is it that Trump has brought up the one issue the mainstream Republicans have been trying to bury especially in an upcoming election year?  If you'll notice, the GOP has been subtly trying to bury the crazy since the 2010 midterms with the one blatant exception of FOX News cancelling Glen Beck's show.   So after all that hard work, what happens?   A prominent Republican with some name recognition doesn't equivocate with the birther issue.   He flat out says that he believes Obama wasn't born here in the US.   After that, GOP politicians have to go on record and say they believe Obama is a natural born citizen which is kind of like demanding that your Senatorial candidate take a position on whether he believes the moon landing was faked.   Add to that, the embarrasment of an NYT poll that comes out saying that 47% of Republicans are birthers while another 25% "aren't sure" if Obama was born here.    My alternate theory is that Trump is trying to make money off the RNC by paying him off to go away.   Either way, Obama wins.
