Does this mean this film might actually get made?

The time for this film has passed.  The zombie thing has, mostly, come and gone.  As has interest in such things.

With what evidence are you reaching that conclusion?

I really have no interest in another zombie flick no matter how good the source material. Time for another classic monster to get a shot.

I enjoyed the book. The film could be pretty fun if done right. Then again, these types of films are rarely done right.

The scope of this story is pretty amazing. However, I couldn't get into the audio book after giving it the old college try. Have no idea how they are planning on shaping this into a flick, since it's an oral histroy. It's almost like Ken Burns should do it for PBS.

Anyway, Enos is a great actress. Nice seeing her get more and more work.

Right.....

I understand getting sick of certain sub-genres. I'm sick to death of superheroes, for instance. But as sick of them as I am, I recognize that when something comes along with a fresh take, I'm likely to have my interest piqued, and I also understand that my tastes do not reflect that of the zeitgeist. And I think things like zombies, vampires, ghosts, superheroes...these are things that just are never REALLY going to go out of style. Their popularity may wax and wane a bit, but you're never going to see a time in which there is zero zombie media out there, for instance.

I'm still interested in seeing this thing come together. I guess I am still in the small minority that still enjoys a zombie story when it is properly done I can only hope that this is one of those.

I agree.  The popularity of The Walking Dead is evidence of this.  And I think a lot of that popularity stems from a new media addressing an established sub-genre.  Zombie films, however, are currently done to death.  Every hip, actiony thing has been done within the last few years.  World War Z was a good read, and could make an interesting film, but I think they passed the window of maximum profit potential, and the money men have got to see that.  Especially for a genre that has never really lit up the box office in the first place.

I just don't see it.  They can do it, and it could be great, but I still think it would make more sense to let some other subgenres spin their wheels for a while and give the public some undead rest.

And yeah, totally agreed about the superhero genre, and I was once the target audience.
