300 meets Clash of the Titans

I love The Fall so I kind of wish this excited me more. Knowing that Tarsem can make a movie not quite like anything I've ever seen, it's a little disappointing that this feels so overfamiliar. And Snyderish.

I'm still rooting for Cavill as Superman, but by gods was that speech terrible.  Tarsem's films have never been even remotely Oscar-worthy in their performances but all of the actors, from Rourke the Evil Bunny Overlord to the guy from Twilight portraying Poisedon with typical po-faced grimness, look like they have nothing new to match the vividness of some of the imagery here.

I'm only seeing fits of Tarsem's style with a story that looks like it couldn't be more lifeless if it tried.  And I'm sure that I am not the only one who is seeing "Gemma Arterton in Clash and Prince of Persia" all over the suggested story arc of Pinto's character.

And word is that Mickey's character checking his fingernails was not in the script.  See, after delivering his line, he was supposed to provide an evil smirk, but Rourke went all "Where's my paycheck now?" and had to check his fingers to ensure minimal grit retention.  Tarsem found the gesture to be so artistic in its indifference that he just left it in.

Man, that couldn't look more derivative of 300 if it tried.

300? More like 3000!

The Fall is genius & full of life but this is just so... limp.

when the character posters for this debuted a while back emblazoned with “from the producers of 300” i figured it was just a marketing tagline, but turns out it’s wholly representative. the only shot that piqued my interest was at the 0:37 mark and even that seems more Julie Taymorish than what i was expecting from Tarsem. kinda disappointed, i had some imagery in my head that none of that trailer lived up to, and had my fingers crossed for Tarsem as i really love The Fall.

I predict this will be pushed into January release, this looks so bad.

Yep, sadly there is no way this is any good.

Does Hank the Ranger know his bow is missing?

It's obvious that Rourke is playing the new incarnation of Godzilla's pal, Megalon.

WTF the forum failed to "retrieve" my post for edit and then it overwrote my original post with my new reply??? Weird.

I thought that bow looked familiar!

Is it really that hard to get a fun Greek Mythology film?

I dunno, if you freeze-frame that trailer, there were about 15 jaw-dropping single shots in there. Not sure why you guys are so unfulfilled. I don't know if it will be good or not, but the trailer definitely sold me on the movie looking pretty cool.
