Well, I was thrilled two days ago when after my Best Buy had let me down once again by not having The Omega Man, I went into Recordtown (which is one of those Sam Goody owned stores I believe) and they had tons of Howling SE on the racks 2 weeks early for $16!!!!
It seems like I keep buying doubles of great werewolf DVDs. I had the old American Werewolf in London then bought the SE DVD, had the cheap ass american Ginger Snaps and then bought the Canadian DVD and now buying the Howling twice.
But it's worth it. The new doc on it was great and had some cool shots of stuff like stop-motion werewolves footage that wasn't used and the old 1981 featurette was very cool (kinda like that old featurette on the Phantasm DVD) ---it's always neat to see what ideas are expressed by the creators at the time of the film. And Rob Bottin looks like a werewolf for god's sake. My god, the hair!
The deleted scenes are so-so but the outakes are funny--esp the ass rocket powered werewolves!
Can't wait to listen to the commentary.
