UNIVERSAL SOLDIER IV Discussion

Well, shooting starts next month I hear. But its weird that no one seems to have an idea on what the exact cast and synopsis is.

Joblo posted a synopsis recently. But they stated that Michael Jai White was part of the cast (which I doubt is true). No one seems to know where this will be a direct sequel to REGENERATION or who the leads will be.

Here's what we know

John Hyams- Director

Is this going to be in 3D?- According to an interview I read with Hyams, thats supposed to be the plan. But does this mean US4 will be going Theatrical to take advantage of the 3D effect? That...would be my guess.

Dolph and JC will definitely be starring in this. Though I doubt their roles will be large ones.

Anyway, Scott Adkins twittered yesterday that he'll definitely be in US4 as well. Along with REGENERATION alumni Andrei "The Pit Bull".

John Hyams did a bang up job with the last one, and if any of that casting is true (White, Pitbull, Adkins, JCVD & Dolph), I'll keep the faith. He did so much with so little. Mostly shot in that single factory location but the action was NON-STOP. One of the most balls-out DTV action flicks I've ever seen.

Jai White won't be on board. Too bad, was hoping he'd get a chance to play his 3rd different character in the series.

Expect Lundgren to be in this one about as much as he was in REGENERATION. Van Damme will likely have a smaller part than he did last time.

The fact that Adkins has the lead while Van Damme will be mainly a Special Guest Star has many Vanboys fuming. They can't fathom the franchise passing the torch to a new younger star. Though it's Van Damme who appears to be the one who feels nothing but apathy for making these sort of movies in the first place, so I for one am ready for the dawning of a new age of Unisols.

I've got no problem with Van Damme handing over the franchise. Much as I am a fan of JC he doesn't seem that interested in it anyway.

While i respect Scott Adkin's fighting skills, I doubt that being in the lead in this will help his career much though. With the exception of Boyka, Adkin's hasn't impressed me much as a leading man. Though I sincerely hope to be proved wrong in the future.
