Renner = James Cagney with a dash of McQueen in the same way that Daniel Craig = McQueen with a dash of McGoohan.

Much as I like Craig, I really don't want a Brit playing such an American icon.

I had no idea Renner was a Brit.  I always thought he was American...

Ironic that in the void of 2011 where there are a lot of charisma/macho deficient actors that this biopic would be pushed.

 

Wait for the right actor. Renner you aren't it. Talented and capable but McQueen is out of your league.

McQueen (and speaking of it every male icon of the past) is out of everyone's league.

 

Not to sound like a whiny old fart but there's a huge lack of mileage apparent in most of today's stars.
