She's gorgeous, and I hope she starts getting more work than just being the friend of the lead actress.

Yeah she seems a rarity in Hollywoodland she not only is gorgeous but smart as well.

I just saw Thor. While I finally get why everybody else thinks Portman is hot, I would take Kat Dennings over her any day.

However, back on the topic at hand, I do agree with you that she should have more leading parts. I can't say that I could personally picture her switching places with Portman in Thor, but she's definitely talented enough that I'd almost bet money on her at least getting an Oscar nom in the next few years.

The only leading roles that Kat will get are going to be in flicks like Nick & Norah, when it comes to stuff like Thor she's always going to play second fiddle but I wouldn't be surprised if those roles start to dry up when she starts upstaging the lead and they go whining to the producers.

Kat Dennings is in the same position as say an actress like Jennifer Connelly was in several years back. She's got a ridiculous body and studios and producers probably have a certain tunnel vision about what they can and cannot sell her in (I bet you green money that like Christina Hendricks, an inordinate number of scripts she receives probably require nudity, and she turns them down). It seems weird to talk about this, but the reality of Hollywood is a weird thing. It wouldn't shock me if Dennings (like Ricci and Connelly) dropped several pounds and went for a breast reduction sometime in the future. Would not shock me at all.

I believe she is in need of some orthodonture.  I imagine she makes enough to afford it now, and probably wears something like an Invisalign appliance, which is an unnecessary measure since she never shows her teeth.

It may not shock you, but it would gut me. Losing Connollys luminous curves was the last straw for me as far as Hollywoods ridiculously askew views on acceptable body image.

Dennings seems like she needs something along the lines of a Mean Girls or Easy A-type of script to really recognize her potential. She's pretty good with the sharp, sarcastic delivery. That Nick & Norah movie seemed like it tried to make her into the Plain Jane type which I don't think got the most of her star quality. Just a thought.

I think she needs to take roles that start building her up as the sex symbol I believe she has the potential to be peppered with some good arthouse and indie projects. She really could be the next Scarlett Johansson if she wanted.

That's it! I've had a crush on Natascha McElhone for more than a decade - I guess since Ronin - and you are so right it hurts that Kat has the same maddening allure going on.

Her gravity naturally draws a chap's gaze downwards but her eyes are so magical it's almost like it wouldn't be difficult to fight that gravity to maintain eye contact with her.
