Honeymoon ideas

Okay, I'll throw this question out to a bunch of people I don't know. I'm getting married in September and we're trying to figure out what to do honeymoon-wise. It'll probably be a relatively small trip, to be followed by a trip to Europe next summer. We want to go somewhere neither of us have ever been. We're considering Key West or possibly one of those all-inclusive resorts--preferably an adults-only one, as neither one of us wants to be surrounded by a bunch of screaming kids. Suggestions? Warnings?

I vaguely remember Nick talking about somewhere in the Carribean he went to in 09 which he loved. But that might be too far.

California wine country. My wife and I did it and LOVED IT.

I've heard some people have bad experiences with the island, but my wife and I loved our vacation at an all inclusive adults-only resort in Jamaica.  It was called Couples Negril.  Great beach and pool, good restaurants, great staff, and it was fairly small, so it wasn't very crowded.  But, like I said, I've had people come back from Jamaica with mixed experiences too.

Thanks, guys. These are all good ideas--the only reason wine country is out is that she wants to go somewhere that's new for both of us and I've already been there. I do think we'll get there relatively soon though, since I loved it.

My wife and I stayed at one of the Sandals resorts on Jamaica for our honeymoon back in 1999.  We had a great time and would recommend Sandals to anyone.

PROS:

- There are 6 Sandals resorts on Jamaica.  If you stay at one, you can go to any of the others and enjoy their services (restaurants, excursions, water activities, etc)...you just have to go back to your main resort for sleep.

- All inclusive.  Eat as much as you want, drink as much as you want.

- No frickin' kids.

CONS:

- Beware of misleading labels.  We got a deluxe room, thinking that was at least one upgrade from the normal...no, deluxe was their lowest category.  We trusted our travel agent on this one and weren't too pleased.

- The beaches in front of some of the resorts aren't too big.  If you want to roam the beach for a couple of miles, double check the property.

Jamaica's got a ton of fun excursions to do (Dunn's Rivers Falls is a great all day excursion) and the resorts generally have fun activities going on all the time that you can partake in...if you want.  We alternated days with our experience: we'd do an excursion day and follow it with a 'lay on the beach and drink' day.  Great fun.

The only natural scenery remaining in Key West is on U.S. Navy property.  There are feral roosters running loose in the city and crowing at the street lights all night, though, so at least that's exotic.
