GREAT GREEN LANTERN TRAILER MIXES NEW IMAGES WITH OLD (HD STILLS)

Another new Green Lantern trailer has arrived via Yahoo!, and it’s the perfect abridged version of the WonderCon footage, while also integrating new images and voices. The mask is looking a little better in places, the scale of the film continues to look legitimately cosmic (rather than kinda sorta cosmic, as in the surprisingly confined Thor), … Continue reading

Looks like a lot of fun. I'd wondered before if there was too much going on in the film, but I see now that Hector Hammond being linked to the yellow impurity (will they actually call it Parallax?) will tie the the third act fight back into the (hypothetical) second act training on Oa.

Reynold's Bale voice at the end there is a little much...

It's all over the packaging for the toys, so...I'd imagine so.

Renn Brown, The new trailer to, Green Lantern is...Awe-Inspiring!

I really don't say this to be a whiny ass, but that's some of the worst CGI for a film of this size I've ever seen. Piss poor. What FX house did this?

The Guardians look like I'd expect. I really wish the aliens were mostly practical (ala HELLBOY 2's troll market) though.

And the lighting on real Reynolds on CG Oa still looks wonky. Looking forward to its cosmic epicness. I guess it could be argued that GL doesn't count, but is REVENGE OF THE SITH really the last space opera we've had on the big screen? :( EDIT: Forgot about AVATAR (speaking of blue CG creatures).

I actually think there's a certain charm to the CG designs, as plastic-y as they look.  They constitute a pretty fascinating toy box of interesting alien designs, albeit non-practical ones.  Seriously, the last trailer gave us a glimpse of a freakin' jellyfish Lantern, so it looks like the design team is having a lot of fun with this in terms of presenting designs that we haven't quite seen on the big screen yet.

I get that. And it's not the designs I have an issue with (very comic accurate BTW). I just always prefer a mix of SFX methods for maximum effectiveness.

I feel like this movie is going to be the tipping point where average blockbuster fans who went to the Marvel movies are gonna see this and be like, WE HAVE CROSSED THE THRESHOLD OF TOO FUCKIN' DORKY.

There's surely a dozen or more involved. Probably twice that.

There's so much that it has that smeared, overly-grainy feeling I hate on shit like this, but there's no way these effects compare to some of the shit that's slipped into major blockbusters. There's some really good stuff in there too.

I love that they've just gone totally out there. Last WB superhero flick was all darkness and social parallels and antiheroes, and this is all brightly coloured SPACE ALIENS and comedy. Love, can't wait to see it.

Nice, I like that this trailer hinted at Sinestro's arrogance and obsession for control.  Wonder if they will go the "weakness to yellow" in the rings route or just present Parallax and the yellow power as one of the very few things in the universe strong enough to threaten the green lanterns.

Looks intense.

I like that this has a way different vibe (so far) from the Marvel flicks, which look pretty good but a bit more breezy and relaxed than this does (not a bad thing, just what they're going for). The last 2 GL trailers have done a pretty good job of selling a movie with stakes that feel really big.

Certainly a neener-neener challenge to the F4 franchise reboot.

Though for some reason they've decided to make Parallax a giant planet devouring cloud (albeit with freaky faces and shit.  To be honest, I almost get a Larfleeze/Agent Orange vibe from the design) a la Rise of the Silver Surfer's Galactus.

There's some stuff that doesn't make me run for the hills. And as others have said, it's not really the "design," it's the compositing/execution of what's there. The live-action pieces of Reynolds stick out sooooo much on Oa, and the shots of Parallax crawling on that building look awful too.

But I'm still rooting for this thing because bad CG aside, it does look ambitious and fun.

Most likely, especially for last minute/eleventh hour work.  But, Sony Imageworks is the lead VFX house from what I read last year.

As long as they get rid of the toes, we're golden. I can't handle the toes.
