I'm looking to get some feelings and insight on the myriad editions of Sun Tzu's work that are floating around out there and perhaps a few here have tasted. In the bricks-and-mortar realm the vibe is still generally the Clavell edition. While I have a yellowing copy of it, it dates from about 3 decades (gulp!) ago and I can imagine there have been at least a few more recent ones that could supplant it.
The rub is that I'm not just looking for a quick translation, I'm in the market for one that elaborates a bit on the principles in terms of historical scenarios (particularly when an army fucks up...Viet Nam, Afghanistan and the like).
If anyone has some experience with this I'd be greatly appreciative of any input.
