there’s not enough spunk out there right now.

Well I'd better get to work then.

I'm not completely opposed to this, because you could argue that Hollywood has been trying to bring Nick and Nora back under different names for seven decades now. But as was mentioned, it's not really something that you can milk for its big name value.

No.  Leave it alone.  They won't do it right.  It's a product of its time and modernizing it would remove some of its class.

IS NOTHING SACRED?!!! mad.gif

Man, remember when Johnny Depp worked with INTERESTING directors?

Hate whenever this project gets new news. I like Depp, but yeah, he hasn't been anything of quality since the first Pirates. So without recent goodwill, I can't even support him doing this terrible idea.

Ah fuck it, Eva Green for Nora.

Oddly enough, yesterday I watch The Thin Man. Later I watched Chicago. Chicago is a lot better than I remember it being, and I was impressed with Rob Marshall. Now I read this...

I kind of hate this idea. A lot. But not because of any of the talent involved so far. Depp has been boring as hell as of late, but the right material could always spark him. Boring and predictable in his unpredictability as he may be, I still think him immensely talented. And Rob Marshall is a better director than the Shawn Levys of the world.

I hate it for whomever they hire to write the script. The style of dialogue and interaction required for a film like this just doesn't exist in writers any more. The only people who could really create the magical interplay needed for this would be the Coens. Other than that the dialogue will probably fizzle and feel like an imitation only.

That said: Kate Hudson for Nora. But I mean GOOD Kate Hudson, not sleep-walking-Zooey-Deschenel-has-more-energy-Kate-Hudson.

Or better yet, drop Johnny Depp and bring in George Clooney and Cate Blanchett, ok?

If this is done as a period piece, it could be interesting.

And Kat Dennings for Nora.
