Porky's (1981)

I revisited my old non-anamorphic dvd of this classic, and it's still got it. I can't watch it without laughing my ass off. From the beginning where Pee Wee "pulls a muscle" to the legendary shower scene, which would never be able to be made today (sadly), this is a movie that every guy should see when he's a teenager. I remember seeing the edited version on USA and still laughed myself silly as a kid.

 

Highlights: The prank in the old house with Cherry Forever. What a great, GREAT, gag. As soon as Pee Wee hears "Take your clothes off, he does it, and everyone laughs at his dick. Then his cry of "YOU GUYS, WE'RE GONNA GET LAID! OH-HO SHE'S HOT!"

 

-The damn bed squeaking as Billy jumps up and down on it.

 

-Pee Wee running naked down the street and the sheriff asking for his driver's license.

 

-Kim Cattrall squealing in pleasure as "Lassie"

 

-That one coach having to go behind that curtain to laugh his ass off while Kim Cattrall is moaning loudly.

 

-The pay off to the joke after the shower scene "It was last scene hanging out in the girl's locker room, at Angel Beach, High School"

 

-Michael Hunt

 

-Dan Monahan's performance as Pee Wee. He's certainly the linchpin in the film. Surprised his career never took off. It should have.

 

 

Bob Clark was certainly a talented director. He made horror movies, a teen sex comedy, and what is basically the quintessential family Christmas movie (next to Christmas Vacation of course).

I still remember first catching this at about age 14 on late night tv one weekend and literally laughing so hard I thought I'd wake up the rest of the house.

 

For me it's the scene immediately following the infamous shower moment that left me the most breathless. When the gym teachers start talking about making a wanted poster for the dick to put up around school and start to completely lose it I've never come across a scene that so effortlessly displays what a bunch of boys getting serious god-I-can't-breathe giggle fits is like.

 

A surprisingly under-rated comedy these days.

 

The sequels are all arse tho.

I remember really crushing on Kaki Hunter ("Wendy") in the Porky's movies. She is, at least of last note, a white water rafting instructor now!  smile.gif

Sneaked out of bed when I was about 8 years old to watch it at my Grandparent's house and it left a major impression on me.  First film that I saw full frontal nudity in too.  But the pranks.... the egg, Cherry Forever, tricking Tommy into thinking one of the shower hotties was coming for it, etc. will always entertain me.  And when I watch it now, I can't help but smile through the whole damn thing.  It's a personal classic that none of my friends really understand.

 

A couple of times a year, I'll watch Porky's and Revenge of the Nerds back-to-back.  They don't make em like that anymore....

Porky's is one of my all-time favorite comedies. It and Police Academy were the first two movies my daddy rented when we got our first VCR back in the day. I liked Porky's 2: The Next Day, but Porky's Revenge wasn't that good.
