Here's Drew's take of things.

He says that he doesn't "get" Noomi Rapace.

I don't either

I hope this doesn't turn out to be a big budget remake of Inseminoid.

No, 'Tic' and 'Toc' are nowhere on the credits list in ANY capacity...

Her accent is certainly all over the place.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

There's a dream/flashback scene where the girl playing the young Shaw has a very prim and proper English accent, but it turns into who knows what when she grows up.

I'll agree that I have yet to be "wowed" by her in anything I've seen her in so far.  It will be interesting to see what De Palma has gotten out of her though.

From a BBC article a couple of days ago.  While I'm doing my damndest to avoid spoiler threads, or reviews, something I'm picking up on is the home run is a bit choppy.  Wonder if it was cut amongst these "concessions" and we'll get a 'Directors Cut':

The film is violent and tense but Sir Ridley - who has been an outspoken critic of the current rules of film ratings - insists he cut as much he could to open the film to a wider audience.

"It has to be be about the movie, so I've made concessions. There's a moment where you don't want to harm the movie.

But he acknowledges its a case of simple economics and getting an 18 certificate "could be the difference of $80m or more".

Seeing this on Thursday with a bunch of fellas.  About 20 of us, only three or so hardcore filmies, but everyone else is coming due to the mint trailers.

Still excited.

Mint trailers?  Sup Super 8 kid?

Mint - as in "the car is in mint condition," but they can use it to describe more than the condition of something as in, "We had a mint day."

You've never seen Super 8, then.

Nope.  "Mint" used in it then?  That can only be a good thing :)

Also, now have my tickets.  Thursday 8:30.  I know I should temper my excitement but I just can't :)

Uh, sometimes there can be too much of a good thing.

Crap, just read devin's review of this film and I'm depressed ...

Yea, considering his excitement level for it, his review in particular is a bummer.  Still hoping the film is successful, I'd like to see more big budget, R rated sci-fi.

Devin's review is certainly worrisome, but I don't think he was ever going to give Lindelof's script a fair shake.  Even if he ended up liking it, I'm sure Spaiht's script would have worked despite Lindelof's meddling or something to that effect.

Regardless, my expectations are in check and that's probably for the best.  And by all accounts, Fassbender is incredible and the movie is gorgeous, so there's that.

Can't say I agree with that.  His coverage of Prometheus was overwhelmingly posititve, and seemed to be geniunely excited.  I think he's a bit of a jerk, but I have to be fair and say I never once caught a hint of his signature snark while covering Promethues, Lindelof related or otherwise.

And it's not like he's the only critic bringing up the script.

I'll still be there opeing night, mind you.

We have yet to hear from Monster Pete after he was supposed to see it last night. Assuming his night ended something like this:

What I hear from my mates in the UK who aren't total movie nuts is that it's a blast.  Big and scary.

That's enough for me.  If he can sneak in half a thought provoking movie into a scare fest, and make some bucks, then I say the man did well.

check out the post thread.  Prometheus turned into my dislike for Avengers.  I don't know how it happened, but it did.  Summer of 2012 has been a huge disappointment me so far.

I'll wait until Friday morning. Sorry to hear it, Pete :/

Can I just say, the "Michael Fassbender is good as the robot' sentiment seems to be people desperately trying to find something about the movie to like. Fassbender is good as the robot you say? HE DAMN WELL BETTER BE GOOD AS THE FUCKING ROBOT. I'm sorry, but it should just be a fucking given that the movie looks nice and that godamn Micheal Fassbender is good as the goddamn robot.

Sorry, having pre-emptive nerd rage. Seeing it Friday. Watch out!

What is that Devin guys deal with Cameron?  I've never seen someone so obsessed with taking pot shots at someones work.  He did a "Aliens" trailer of the day bit over at his blog,, and he just can't help himself.  I don't even think the guy dislikes the film, he just likes seeing fans get worked up.

I don't know.  All his pre Avatar stories on here (OMG there is a short story in this old sci-fi book that sounds like the story to Avatar someone should sue!) was what pretty much made me stop reading anything he wrote.

Back on topic, I have stayed out of this thread for a while now, trying to avoid any spoilers.  Couldn't resist coming back in, and now I'm a bit bummed from the negative reaction.  To the movie, that is.  Not me reading this thread.

I'll be getting good and wasted after jamming Thursday night, hopefully that will be enough of a "mindwipe" to send me in to the theatre in a dazed and ignorant state Friday afternoon. Wash away the shame of my post-release thread indulgences, Jim Beam.

I'm already commited to seeing the thing multiple times (since I got friends and family all lathered up with excitement from the trailers), so...I really hope I like it.

upgrade to Knob Creek man....

Knob is definitely good, but times are tough bro. Can't even afford any branch water to go with it.

Sorry, wrong forum...

Michael Fassbender is really good as the robot.

As for the rest, I can't shake the feeling that it was a load of pish.

I noticed the marketing/TV Spots for the film are now making absolutely no bones about the Alien connection.  Now it's all "Before ALIEN there was PROMETHEUS!"

I haven't seen this yet and without reading reviews or checking out the post-release thread, can someone please tell me if seeing this in 3D is worth it? And without going into too much detail, are the comparisons to Mission to Mars valid/strong?

It's a stunningly beautiful movie, the 3D is well used and jaw dropping in some scenes.

While having lots of good ideas it's plot is arguably weak. It appears this bothers some, but not others. If you can immerse yourself in it, and not get hung up on weaknesses of plot, it's an absolute must see on the big screen

I guess I let my expectations get a little outta control for this, so when word was mixed I suddenly found myself quite tredipatious about going.  But cheers, you've twisted my arm.
