Gas Prices - differences between Europe and the U.S.

Hello all. PapaSmurf here.

So, I thought it could be fun to compare gas prices between countries, and why not regions as well.

So, myself, I live in a northern European country, and the gas prices for today are:

1,65 € / litre (Low quality gas, 10% ethanol) - and if my calculations are correct, that equals 9,00 $ / gallon (US)

1,70 € / litre (Medium quality gas, 5% ethanol) - 9,27 $ / gallon

1,73 € / litre (High quality gas, no ethanol, not available in every gas station) - 9,39 $ / gallon

How much do you pay for gas in your country/area?

I filled up this morning for $3.85 a gallon. It was up around $4.20 just last week but it has been coming down and I live in rural Ohio. I couldn't imagine paying that much for fuel. It's expensive for me now to buy gas for my lawnmower and tractor and, of course, I drive a truck so thats not cheap. Now, I do live on a farm so I have a few more gas using items than most people but I couldn't do it at your prices.

I live in Texas. The price this morning was $3.79/gallon.

I'm in California and filled up yesterday for $4.03 a gallon which I thought was a steal considering that the same station was selling regular for $4.35 a gallon last week.

I live in Alabama. Gas here is $3.59/gal. I wouldn't mind the cost of gas for the private consumer being $9.00/gal if we actually had public transportation here; the best we get -- in a city with 250,000 inhabitants -- is a bus that runs one circuit that covers one-fourth of the city, twice per day.
