The age of Twilight is over. Now we’re in The Hunger Games era. Let the obsessions begin as Entertainment Weekly unveils their first look at each character. First up is Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen.  She looks…well, like Lawrence with a tan.   But cosplayers can start their engines, and begin trying to replicate her badass … Continue reading

I still have no idea what this Hunger Games shit is.

If only Tyrese played Thresh, this could've been called The Hongreh Games...  ...  ...

Looking cool.

I read that Stanley Tucci has been cast in the film as well.  That's funny, because I'd immediately read Katniss' stylist (forgot the character's name) with him in mind (Devil Wears Prada typecasting).  Of course, Tucci is actually playing a different character in the movie.

My favorite ellipsis of the day.

Get ahead of the curve this year, Comic-Con cuties!

I'm hopefully assuming this is Katniss' look AFTER her television makeover and not during her malnourished home life.

That's how I assumed it.  Would her ratty clothes so proudly display that symbol?

Sounds like a teen-pleasing BATTLE ROYALE to me.

It's not quite as nihilistic as BR but it's nearly as dark and violent.  It's in no way TWILIGHT-with-fighting; it's compelling as hell.

Yup, that's Katniss.

My first impression was that this was some Twilight teen crap, but I've to admit that this looks interesting.

I recently listened to the audiobook version of the trilogy and it was pretty good. I've not see the Twilight films but while the Hunger Games has a love triangle it's not really the focus like it seems to be in Twilight. It's more about the fighting and the psychological toll it takes on the people involved.

They might be in the same section of the book store, but Hunger Games is a definite step above Twilight.  It isn't necessarily fine literature, but it is completely worthwhile and could make for a compelling film.

We knew Lawrence has the chops, looks like they nailed the look too.  Looking forward to seeing some footage!

I was dubious when they announced this but she really does look the part.

regardless that kid from History of Violence and The Kids are Alright is still wrong for Peeta and I'm not convinced Gary Ross is the right choice of director.

At 32 years old I really shouldnt be this bothered about the film version of tween books but I do love them books so...

Some very left-field casting news on this recently... huh...
