Bad Taste to be re-released

not sure if this has been picked up on but apparently Bad Taste is going to be re-released and remastered.

http://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment/film/5008872/Jacksons-Bad-Taste-to-be-re-released

In that whole 'make this about myself' Internet way I'll proceed to bore with an anecdote.

I got married in NZ and my missus is a New Zealander.  When she lived in NZ she worked in the NZ Film commission and knew Peter Jacksons PA really well.  As an upshot of that when we got married here I got to go to his base in Miramar (didn't meet the man as he was doing Return of the King) and even got a signed wedding message on LOTR notepaper (that in itself was stunning, not the message per se, but the actual notepaper).

But those acts paled into insignificance when the wife took me up to Gear homestead in Porirua AKA the house from Bad Taste.  Greatest wedding gift ever.

So the re-release of this has me quite excited.  I'm definately hoping that when it gets punted to DVD that they bundle it with 'How Good Taste Made Bad Taste' because that is one amazing doco.

Wonder if they mean Blu Ray? My DVD SE has the doco and a bunch of other stuff. Came out in 2004 - sickly Yellow/Lime colored package.

My god, the "letters to the editor" wowsers on that page. Is NZ still actually like that? The Little England (not the TV show, the mind set) thing?

Anyway. Awesome if they're giving it a spruce-up. Probably the movie outside of Star Wars I've re-watched most. I think Pete (Barry) says in the commentary that he actually got married up at Gear Homestead.

Yes NZ is still like that :)  A potential All Black tweeted that there was no way you'd pick AB's out of two poorly performing NZ sides (rightly so) and he got pilloried along the lines of 'urgh you can't say that, this is the ABs' blah blahblah.  Having said that the 'Stuff' readership do seem to be particularly bad for it.  I love my adopted country to bits but some of the shit you read just boggles the mind.

There was a SE Bad Taste?  Balls - I only ever saw the vanilla release one.  I had to watch "How Good Taste.." on a crappy VHS back in the day and have been dying to see it again.

One of the best things about the time I lived in Wellington (we lived there for a year when we first moved over) was going round and seeing all the locations for Bad Taste/Braindead and Feebles.

Jackson's a good guy. His presence on the SE is at a bare minimum - giving the other lads their moment.

Had a quick look around the web. Seems like that edition is completely out of print.

Released by Universal (Australasia): Bad Taste Collector's Edition

Pal/16:9/5.1 Surround/2.0 Stereo

Special Features:

Definitely trading on Lord of the Rings, so no surprise there's noise about another edition now the Hobbit's rolling.
