I believe that for the up conversion of Titanic, it's really going to benefit due to the amount of time that's given. Normally a film just has a hand full of months before it's released. Also the 4k plates will help.

The way the industry has sold 3D, they have themselves to blame if audiences (and certain bonehead directors) think it's good only for action and FX-heavy films. Premium ticket-pricing virtually guarantees we won't see small-scale, character-oriented releases along the lines of Miss Sadie Thompson or Inferno anytime soon. During the 1950s boom, studios committed to producing 3D films in all genres.
