Article's dead on. Sounds like T2 meets THE PACIFIER.

 

Guess Vin wanted to play the live action IRON GIANT instead of just voice-over.

As if (PLUG!) Rich Franklin's CYBORG SOLDIER didn't fill the void since SOLO. ;) Not a single kid in that one though. Due to the fact that CYBORG SOLDIER was a cinematic abortion.
