Really want to see that 6 min preview in front of MIB3.   I might see MIB3 just for that.

My god, it's a CGI lizard!

...

Looks alright.

Where are his god-damn purple pants? This movie is bullshit!

Seriously though, I'm not sure what people were really looking for. Alligator face? Killer Croc? Guy in a weird Halloween costume/robot suit?

That looks like the kind of lizard problem that calls for your friendly neighborhood Bob Hoskins.

The six minute sizzle reel in front of MIB 3 has sold me.  This thing, in 3D, is going to take off internationally.  Bank on it.  Best 3D I've ever seen.

I know there's a lot of apathy towards this thing and I can understand it from fans of the Raimi trilogy and what this film would represent to the industry as whole if it made serious money, but...this thing looks like it's going to work.  I mean, it's Batman Begins through and through...not so much tonally but just how they've approached this reboot.

Everything they've released in the last 3 months has worked like gangbusters to win me over.  And that sizzle reel was the exclamation point.

For me, it wouldn't shock me one bit if this was the best Marvel film this summer.

well, much better then that hour and a half rumor a month or so back.

Man, ya'll are crazy. I love the Lizard's old-school lizard face and smooth scales. Taking it in the giant scales and BIG SHARP TEETH direction would've been too predictable.

And, my God, I'd forgotten how adorable the Goomba's were, ha ha.

Well lizards do have small teeth.  It would be stupid to have huge teeth.

I keep hearing this over and over again.   I'm dying to see it.  Just doing a twitter search and everyone seems to have been blown away by the 6 min. trailer.  It was smart of them to show this.  It's going to generate a ton of positive buzz.

Even if the movie is ten times better than I think it will be, there's no way it'll be the "best Marvel movie of the summer" for me. The re-hashed origin and terrible Lizard design alone guarantee that fact.

They're using the same clips over and over again in recent trailers and TV ads. For a movie like this, they need to show everything they've got to win people over. Can't afford to hold out like The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises.

It seems pretty desperate to blow six minutes of your movie like that. Already feel like I've seen all of it just from the different trailers.

It certainly is a desperate move as TASM has pretty much spent the last couple of months as the internet's punching bag; though, if the six minute footage is as good as we're hearing, perhaps it's enough to turn things around.

My apathy for the film doesn't really come from a place of extreme devotion of the Raimi films.  Yeah, I was also bothered by the fact that this was to be another reboot, but I would have been fine with it if I was interested in what has been shown for it.  Instead, every single trailer has left me feeling pretty fucking cold.  It's something about the tone of the trailers that just completely turns me off from the film and to be honest, I'm not all that interested in learning about Peter's parents.

Maybe the actual film will exceed my pretty fucking low expectations, but for now, I'll approach the movie with slight indifference.

This may be the stupidest thing I have ever read ever . Lizards also don't walk or transform from human beings. The thing doesn't have to have giant gnashers, just teeth proportional to its body. And probably less of them. Where did all the extra teeth come from?

I don't get the hang up on the Lizard design. It looks like a faithful look of the comic book Lizard. It just doesn't bother. Everything else about the movie does.

OSCORP probably has a fantastic dental plan.

The thing about the Lizard design is that he's usually depicted as more reptilian in the facial features, more monstrous in build. Now, in his first comic appearances, he WAS a bit more human-looking in his, so that might be what they're going for.

It just doesn't look as cool or inspired as the more prevalent "alligator" design in the comics.

Plus there were the leaked photos that showed a snout. I really hope that we starts out looking human like and then quickly mutates further. The goomba look is not working.

Saw the 6 min preview. Mostly the same stuff. But there's two new Gwen/Peter scenes.

I can PM a link if anyone's interested.

Make it so.

The new 6 min Preview

Mostly footage we've seen before. Though i like the Gwen/Peter scene we have here.

So its basically a sizzle reel of footage already screened to the public in one form or another (I recall the Peter/Gwen/Uncle Ben bit played at Comic-Con and Empire presentations). They keep saying this Spidey is a wise-ass dropping one-liners. Umm, OK great. How about you actually show that? Besides the bit with the mugger we've seen at nausea? And the one good scene (Pete and the little kid) is MIA.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

The Gwen/ Peter scene was good. I also like Uncle Ben's I'm his probation officer line. The action scenes look top notch. That said changing the why Uncle Ben dies is still a problem for me. Is it confirmed that Peter's father experimented on him and the spider bite just triggered what was already in him? As of now this movie is still something I will skip in theaters, but will probably rent later.

They sure packed a lot of cliches into that 6 minutes. "I created him!" "I never know if my police cop dad will make it home!" etc.

What I liked:

Stacy/Parker (Starker?) looks absolutely adorable.  So I guess when they eventually kill her off, her death will have some kind of weight.

The car-thief confrontations is still pretty gold.  Loved the quick-cuts of Spidey throwing web at the guy while he screams.

What I didn't like:

Still not digging the actual plot for this.  It's that whole "I really don't need another origin story" thing that's rearing its ugly head, and I can just see the whole "mystery about Peter's parents" falling flat on its head.

felix, That was...Amazing!  The only thing I didn't like was that there are nearly...6 weeks before Spider-Man...Swings, into theaters nationwide!  Emma Stone is simply...Perfectly Cast as Gwen Stacy.  I think Andrew Garfield will make people forget Tobey Maguire ever played Peter Parker.

How does an exact-looking giant lizard more inspiring than a man/lizard hybrid?

Maybe "cooler" would be a better word. As for why... who the hell knows? I just like that kind of design more than this one, which isn't even terrible.

Maybe he mutates further and further each time you see him?

If they really wanted to distance themselves from the previous film series, they should have done the story line where Peter literally becomes a spider, with eight arms and a big spider head (shades of "The Fly" from the '50s) on a human-sized body.

I don't know if this ever happened in the comics, but it made for some fun times on the '90s animated "Spider-Man" series with a pussified Saturday morning cartoon version of The Punisher hunting down 'Man-Spider'. Such a blatant rip-off of Batman's 'Man Bat' (or vice-versa depending on which character was created first).

One thing I hope they can have fun with is the theme.  Elfmans theme is iconic and wonderful, but never really evoked Spiderman to me.  For example Elfman's HULK score is incredible, maybe one of the best examples of capturing the "essence" of a character in the music.  Personally?  I was a 90's kid, so naturally I want to see them incorporate the sweet guitar riffs from this into it.  Just give me that little opening riff over a teaser and I'd spin a web in my pants.

Or they could have some fun and do a straight up theme song in the middle of the movie?  This one has grown on me a lot.

Do we know who's doing the music?

"Hummmmummumum...  ... ... JAMES HORNER????"

I don't know why I thought it was Craig Armstrong.  James Horner doing a Spider-man movie.  I'm very curious to hear how this'll turn out.  Not particularly hopeful.  Just very curious.

I'm convinced the rest of the movie is Garfield whispering and skateboarding.  Often at the same time.
