Don't think, just do it. Do it.

That made my morning.

That made me so happy, it's kind of bizarre.

Thanks for the warning: I had no clue what was coming. Can't wait.

I love this. All of it.

Name gave it away. Still, perfect...

I had an inkling the moment I saw Segel.  But still... DELIGHT.

Didn't know Amy Adams was in it.  Perfect casting.

Oh man, oh man. Talk about rug pulling. Classic.

Good job Renn, worked its magic on me like it was meant to be.

I really needed that today. Thanks.

Glorious.  I suspected what it was really about, but still pulled off perfectly.

I'd love to have seen this for the first time in a crowded, unsuspecting theater, though.  Stealth trailers work their best magic that way.

Yes, yes, yes. This looks so good. And Amy Adams is in it? Eeeeeeeeee!!!!

The shitty thing is that those days pretty much over, as nothing is every going to slip out covertly. The great thing is those days will totally come back when theaters are fully digital and cloud-networked, and a trailer can be delivered and projected with minimal choreography with the theaters, with no time or means for word to break early. Darkest before the dawn and all that.

So unexpected, and so, so good.

Thanks for preserving the surprise, Renn. No doubt some jackass would have ruined that for me - this is one reason why Chud remains my go-to site.

ETA: "Some jackass" turned out to be Drew McWeeny of all people. Way to completely ruin the surprise for all your Twitter followers, man.

Saw this in front of Pirates 4, and I was just as delighted and gobsmacked. I can't wait to see this.

How did the audiences take it?

But yeah, that reveal was awesome.

There was much laughter and clapping, particularly from the kids in the audience. Again, I hadn't heard anything about this and was semi-interested at the start of the preview because I like Segel and Adams... and then Kermit popped up and I instantly knew what was about to happen.

I think all of us were waiting for a film like this.

Just checking, I know kids are familiar with Kermit and Miss Piggy. Buti didn't think kids these days were familiar with the rest of the Puppets Crew (e.g Beaker, Animal). After all, The Muppet Show has been off the air for decades and the last movie was years ago.

Haha. Well done Renn.

And goddamn I love the Muppets. I havn't seen it forever....but I remember loving the shit out of Muppet Treasure Island.

My 7-yr old daughter is a Muppet junkie (we have the first 4 seasons on DVD), and she nearly stroked out in the theater on Saturday.  This one just moved to the top of the "gotta see" list for this year.

Man, I was all "WTF is this?" and then I saw Kermit.  Classic, but I am interested in how this is going to do, what with all of the CGI cartoon films seemingly cornering the kiddie market.

I'm SO glad I saw it here first.  Well done, Renn!

My initial thought when I caught this on my Facebook feed was a sneak Superman trailer, deduced from just reading the headline alongside the embed image of Amy Adams. I predicted the gag, but just the wrong flick. I'm so SO cool with it, though.

Aside from the psyche out, what I like is that Adams and Segal are the only prominent flesh and blood performers. I understand that this flick has a pretty big collection of celebrities, and I remember a couple of them from reading a news item sometime back. Thinking back on that, I now kind of suspect that SPECIAL GUEST STARS were meant to be surprise as well. Thank GOD I forgot who most of them are.

Also: check out the background at the .44 mark. It sneaks a muppet set up before revealing the absolute ace in the hole.

Every parent over the age of 30 is going to drag their child to see this whether they want to or not.  I suspect this will be like more recent Pixar and play better with adults than wee ones.

Checked Wikipedia and "The Rainbow Connection" is going to be one of the songs in the film.

YES!!!

I was recently told that I look like Amy Adams*, so I like to think that this is the closest I will ever get to seeing my life story on film.

*Actually what she said was "you look just like that woman from the Julia Childs movie. The one who wasn't Julia Childs."

Went and saw Pirates but got there late so I missed the trailer then. Then a friend told me to come to the main page here and watch it and I forgot. Then some chode on the comments for another site ruined it for me. Still pretty great.

Figured it out before the reveal, but I'm glad it was still a surprise. Loved it!

If kids don't like Muppets anymore because they're not CGI, I'm seriously gonna consider checking out of this planet.

Oh, come on, do I have to be the lone Michael Caine in this thread?  Aside from the reveal, the trailer really did nothing for me.  I'm sure I'll watch it with my kid, though.  Maybe I wasn't as into The Muppets as others.  Green smoke.

No Frank Oz? Fozzie sounded a bit off.

It made my day to see this worked and a few dozen extra people got to enjoy the surprise. I appreciate the ones who trusted me enough to run into the dark dank alley as I waved them in.

Proves you can not be an asshole and still get a response to something good...

That's pretty cute but for romantic comedy fakeout trailer shenanigans, Red Eye is still king for me.

Another thank you for setting this up to be so surprising. I had heard about the Amy Adams casting, but was fooled by the beginning. I actually thought, "wait, Amy Adams and Jason Segal made ANOTHER movie together before their muppets movie? They must have really liked working together". What a fool I was...and for once, I'm glad I can be fooled so easily. biggrin.gif

I just watched the trailer again, and you know what I noticed? A bodycam strapped to a Muppet. If ever there were two things made for each other, they are Muppets and bodycams. Also:

Hi, I'm D.T.

It's almost disturbing how insanely happy watching this made me.

If Audition ever gets an American remake, it needs to take it's cue from the Muppet and Red Eye trailer. Except have the whole thing advertised as a romantic comedy.

I am so glad that this is coming out. Something to look forward to at the end of this year.

Any other audience reactions when they saw this trailer?

Hahah great, thank you Renn.....the question posed in that trailer? First posed my ME while watching Return of the Jedi. Fact.

am so glad i did exaclty what you asked. wonderfull stuff

Anybody caught that Green Lantern parody trailer earlier?

That bit about "Swedish Chef". Well played, Sirs!

They've been hitting all the right beats with the parody trailers, but man, none of them prepared me for how absolutely fucking amazing that was. Made my hour, day, and week. And part of my month.

This movie is going to kill at the box office.  Kill.

Is Scorcese's kids' film still opening the same day?  Because that's suicide.

Really? I know there are fans of the Muppets from childhood but do kids even care nowadays? Not trying to say they don't it's just I think the film has a way to go to re-popularize the Muppets like they used to be in the late 70's/early 80's.

It won't matter if today's kids don't care.  Every parent over the age of 25 is going to drag their children to see this like it's church.
