X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Post-Release Discussion - Page 13

It originated in the comics in the 00s, and I even hated it then. It turns them from characters into D&D avatars.

It's stupid and lazy wherever it started.  Not as frustrating as the boring, ugly, imagination-less final battle, but still.

OVER 9000????

Finally saw this last night.  A flawed movie saved by Fassbender,  Macavoy and Bacon.

Here is a good man who can level buildings with his eyes. He loses his fiancee and can barely keep his shit together. Along comes a crisis (the cure) and he has to pull himself together to stand by and lead his 'family'. There's your fucking story. And Logan get's to be the badass in the corner rather than the babysitter.

It "sounds" like Singer was going to make it up to Marsden with the X3 (and 4) he had planned.  The sad thing is that Marsden is a decent actor who got saddled with a poorly realized (on the page) character.  Killing Cyclops so early on into X3 is made even worse by the fact that during the few minutes he's actually on screen, he's 100 times more interesting than the entirety of his appearances in the first two.  They killed him off when things were starting to get good with the character!
