Two years of tricksy Hobbitses.

The waiting is the best part.

Well now I really want the Mayans to have been wrong.

Oh and that 50th anniversary copy you were read looks bloody gorgeous Alex - I've never seen that one.

Coincidentally my first life-changing reading of The Hobbit back in '87 was a 50th Anniversary Edition as well though mine was paperback...

That cover is one of the more evocative and memorable in my life to be honest.

Let's party like its 1999!

That's one good looking book.

All the paperbacks for The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings that I saw all had locations as the front, which never made much sense to me. I know the setting is a huge part of the stories but it's weird to not focus on the characters at all. But goddamn do I love that gold 50th anniversary edition.

Is this the first confirmation that Christopher Lee is returning? There seemed to be some ambiguity about that, given his age.

Honestly, they could call this The Hobbit: Bilbo's Super Happy Fun Middle Earth Adventures and I will still be there at the midnight showing, having possibly punched out some little kid so I could get the tickets. Do I like the names? Sure. They could've just gone with Hobbit I and Hobbit II and I'm fine.

And now the wait. I do so love the wait. I feel like I'm time traveling ten years ago, only with the slightly added benefit of sorta knowing what we're getting into this time.

"There and Back Again" is the more obvious subtitle. So much so, that I jokingly called the 2 flicks (to my wife):

HOBBIT 1: There

HOBBIT 2: And Back Again

EDIT: And since we're showing off Hobbit covers, this is the hardcover we have in the darkmite8 household (to go along with the red LOTR edition):

No, good ole Sir Christopher announced it himself awhile back.  Orlando Bloom and Hugo Weaving were the last of the returning actors to be announced.  The delayed on announcing Weaving's return for so long that I was starting to get worried.  Unlike the (likely) bit parts that Bloom, Wood, and Holm will be doing.....................Weaving's Elrond actually has an important role to play in the story.

I'm happy that Lee is coming back. Wasn't there some bad blood between him and Jackson after a lot of of scenes were cut from Return of the King?

Yes. I totally agree! They could name it whatever the hell they wanted and I would be first in line at the midnight showing. The wait will be the best thing though!
