Nooo.  Not Bag Of Bones.  Why?  Seriously why?

Bag of Bones is the only Stephen King I gave up halfway through, and I've read Tommyknockers.

It's been a while since I read it, but I remember really liking it. Probably the only King book since Insomnia (which is batshit crazy) that I've enjoyed.

On that note, I've just recently started Under the Dome and hopefully it'll break the streak of shitty books.

DUMA KEY isn't shitty! Longwinded, but not shitty.

Apparently Mick Garris is good friends with King. It really sounds like schmooze has won over talent in that case.

Mick Garris directing a King movie? Who would have thought?

I just hope he stays away from Joe Hill's books. You know, actually good stuff.

The same can be said for Lisey's Story. It's pretty inconsequential, but it's not bad. Fine summer reading.

I think that Under the Dome may be about as good as it's likely to get from a King longwork anymore. I'd rate it a very solid B+.

Thank God and all that is holy it's not THE TALISMAN.

Ugh, Insomnia...SPOILERS>>>If you enjoy the thought of your grandparents having sex and firing "mind bullets" at bald midgets with scissors, then by all means check it out.  That's pretty much the entire book.

Caught a few seconds of Riding the Bullet this weekend, didn't even know Garris directed it....turned it off immediately after only a few painful seconds...

Yeah, I want him far fucking away from The T.

I recall Bruce Willis having optioned and developed this book as a feature script several years back. He would've made a fine Mike Noonan -- this one is easily in my top five favorite King novels of all time.

Will wait and see how this one turns out; getting the casting right is gonna be crucial, especially Mattie and Kyra. It could too easily devolve into the precious.

My exact response to this news.

I can't echo this enough, either. Garris can have all the Bags of Bones and Buick 8's he wants...just stay away from that!

And don't give him a key to the Black House, either. Not even that!

I felt massively let down by Black House.  Just seemed to try and shoehorn in the whole Dark Tower mythology too much.

I wonder how pissed Straub was about that.

Bag of Bones is a great book, one of King's best, but it would make a terrible movie no matter who was directing it. Everything about it screams not adaptable.

At least now it will be clearly terrible, and when it makes it's barely advertised debut on TBS or something, I'll be able to avoid it. If it were a mid level Bruce Willis theatrical, I'd probably get tricked into being optimistic.
