It is true if you bury a Hawkman comic in the sand for a 1,000 years, it becomes priceless.

This is a property I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around for cinematic translation. Waaaay more than THOR when that was announced. Wonder which elements they cherrypick for this and how beholden they are to the character's look.

I'd be curious about that as well, as "has wings" doesn't seem like much of a superpower against, say, bullets. Closest analogy I can think of is Angel from X3, but they handled that by barely putting him in the movie, which doesn't seem like an approach that will work here.

"flogging away on original pieces" sounds dirty. I like it.

Other than that I'll have to wait for more concrete storyline and directorial news and the angle they're going to take with this before I weigh in proper.

Hawkman's got no one defining backstory. He's been retconned so much they can go in whatever direction they want. In the mind of the larger public, he's on the level of Thor or Iron Man - no mainstream audience will care or even know if they got him "right", only that they did him well.

Elisabeth Rappe, I am definitely interested in a...Hawkman film!  I remember Hawkman from the...Superfriends, and just hope he keeps his...Mace!

The only time I liked Hawkman was with what they did in the JL cartoon. But judging from the article this must be a couple of retcons away from now. Cool things could sort of be done with him but unless Green Lantern is an Iron Man style hit on all angles I don't see this going ahead.

"Hey, wasn't Hawkman that lawyer on Adult Swim? No? Nevermind. I got no idea then..."

Darkmite8, I never watched...Harvey Birdman, as I prefer the original Hanna Barbara Classic...BIRDMAN!, or more appropriately...BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRDMANNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Hawkman, and Hawkgirl, fight for...The Justice League, not other lawyers!

Great, now all I want is a Harvey Birdman film.

Stephen Colbert has to play Phil Ken Sebbin tho (HA! HAA!)

It could work like Gabriel in the otherwise ass Legion. For about five minutes, that movie was really cool, having an angel zip around using his wings and mace as weapons. Then the rest of the movie happened.

I'd rather a J'onn J'onnz movie tham Hawkman.

Hawkman strikes me as a character that's managed to stick around simply to round out the Justice League when they needed somebody to fill space in a crowd shot.  He's kind of like the Angel (from X-Men) of the DC Universe.  His superpower is flight, only half of the rest of the superheros can fly, too, and they don't have to wear harnesses made out of floaty stuff.  Speaking of which, how does he control the wings?  Does he use them to glide?  Do they flap?  Does he wear ballast to keep him grounded?

To DC's credit, though, they've managed to make Green Lantern look like a lot of fun.
