Josh and John talk Westerns, video games, laziness, and NBA playoffs.

Still waiting for The Ward to hit my shores. But count me in as a big Carpenter fan.

So I guess this means Darkchlyde is a no-go right? Thank heavens for that.

I'm glad Moltisanti's question made it. It brought out the real FIRE burning inside JC!

I hope this Bloody Benders project can become a reality. A Carpenter film actually set in the 'Old West' is just delicious. And the Benders' story seems like a better playground for Carpenter to do his thang than THE WARD was (which is shockingly ordinary in its plot points).

Always respected the man as a filmmaker, but I respect him just a little bit more for putting his Laker-love aside and recognizing Bynum's act for the gutless disgrace that it was. Good on him.

So is there any word on what sort of release THE WARD is gonna get in the states? Feel like it must be coming out here sooner or later if he's doing press for it.

VOD June 8, 2011 and in theatres July 8, 2011. Not sure what cities it will be in July 8.

Thanks Josh! If it's VOD first it likely won't be a wide release, hopefully it'll be available through Dish.

Good stuff sir. As much of a mess/remake Escape From LA is, I'd listen to a Carpenter/Russell commentary 5 times. They're so much fun to listen to.

Thanks for plugging in some of my questions! I could always tell JC was a cool dude.

It's hitting blu-ray (and DVD) on August 16th, which is depressingly the only way I will get to see it.  Day one purchase for a JC fanatic like me!

Great interview with the living legend, Josh! I'm almost glad you didn't go for a cheap easy question like "Is there ever going to be a sequel to The Thing?" I know I probably wouldn't have been able to keep that one in without saying it. Great suggestion on the audio commentary situation. I'd download those from iTunes without hesitation.

I won't be able to see The Ward in theaters, since it's going to be a limited release, and unless I happen to be elsewhere on July 8, I will have to settle for seeing it via Amazon On Demand or the PSN video service, if that's back up. I may just wait for the disc release on August 16th.
