Robert Rodriguez should do a Goosebumps anthology/trilogy....

I loved the Spy Kids movies but Spy Kids 4 looks like rehashed shit while Shark Boy/Lava Girl and Shorts fucking sucked. The worst thing about these kiddie movies is how insipid they feel. They're the type of crap that Disney put out when I was growing up and I hated that sort of insultingly stupid shit. But then I was watching Lucio Fulci's Zombie at 8 years old so what do I know? But if RR wants to make kids films, he needs to draw inspiration from GREAT movies for kids like Gremlins, Ghostbusters, Poltergeist and The Neverending Story.

I'd like to see RR do a Horror film for kids. How about buying the rights to some of those Goosebumps novels and making an anthology? A Goosebumps flick in the style of George A. Romero's masterpiece Creepshow would be very fucking cool. Make it creepy, scary and gross while avoiding gore, sex and swearing. RR's comic book Directing style would be PERFECT for that sort of thing.

It's just that the kiddie action movies are getting old. Time for a new genre and being that there are 164 GB novels, RR could make one every so often, whenever he wanted. Seems like a good idea to me.

That source material is a little too highbrow for Herr Bay.

In all seriousness, although it isn't really a kid movie, you should check out Trick 'R Treat. It's exactly the kind of movie you're describing only it's not directed by Rodriguez or based on a series of terrible kids' books.

If anyone it should be Guillermo del Toro. Now that I would want to watch.

Guillermo del Toro's Werewolf of Fever Swamp

Yesssss.

M. Night should make a Goosebumps movie. A lot of the GB books (that I read, so there may be a lot of exceptions I'm too lazy to look up) had a shitty "surprise" ending, anyway.

How about no Goosebumps movies?

Goosebumps kicked ass back in the day, I dunno what you're talking about.

The actual "Werewolf of Fever Swamp" movie was fucking horrifying, it gave me nightmares. I was 6 or 7 though...

I've got a few of these books in my classroom for the kids to read. They don't seem to gravitate to them the way that I did when I was in 6th grade.

Turning on the news nowadays is arguably more terrifying than those books ever were.

Why?  Wasn't Are You Afraid of the Dark essentially a Goosebumps tv-show (not to mention that there was an actual Goosebumps show, apparently?)  Why go back to this particular well now?

I agree. The books are a part of my childhood that I dont want destroyed by a movie adaptation.
