Teen Wolf

Anybody watching this?  I made it through the first couple episodes, it's not what I would call "good".  In fact, the writing is pretty bad, "drinking game" level bad.  I would go so far as to say it makes ABC Family shows look good, but I am a fan of werewolves, and would like to see them get their due over modern day shitty vampire stories.

This is most likely going to disappoint, but I have thought the effects were acceptable so far, so maybe it can salvage something.  We'll see, it's like a cross between a CW show and an MTV show, without all the hot Canadian T&A of a CW show and all the shitty writing of an MTV show.

Well, seeing as it's a freakin' TEEN WOLF series produced by MTV. The red flags were there for it being a shitty show and to the surprise of no one...it is!

If it doesn't have Booth or Styles, I'm not watching, damn it!

I also demand a "hold the jello" scene in every episode.

That is all.

Oh yeah, and car surfing.  LOTS of car surfing.

And a keg of beer.

Damn it, man, it's "Boof".  You must feel ridiculous now.

So I caught the first four episodes, and its actually not that bad of a show.  I'd say its on the level of Smallville in terms of storytelling, acting, and character development.  Some moments can be groan inducuing, but there are still lots of cool mysteries and mythology surrounding the whole werewolf thing, and it takes itself much more seriously than the movies did.

So yeah, I'm actually enjoying the show.  I'll probably keep watching it.

So the mystery of who the Alpha is is really intensifying.  I liked the reveal that the spiral is some type of symbol for "Vengeance" and that the Alpha actually has a plan and isn't just running around killing for no purpose.  Though his intentions for Scott are still unclear.  There must be a reason why he chose him to be part of his pack.

I don't think the Alpha is actually the vetrinarian.  That's just too on-the-nose.  They've done too much to cast suspicion on him to actually have that play out the way we all think it will.  And I have to wonder about Derek's plan to see if he was really the Alpha.  "He can't heal if he's unconscious," well, human's can't heal if they're unconscious either, so what was his plan exactly?  What if the guy really wasn't a werewolf?  Would he kill him and then be like "Oh, my bad."  And the "no healing if unconscious" thing seems like a weird development for werewolves, but whatever.

Stiles helping Scott train to control his transformation was cool, and the reveal that Scott's girlfriend is the thing that can help him control his animalistic nature was well done I thought.  I'm still not jiving with the romance because I think the two characters aren't that interesting, but it's not cringe worthy or anything.

The next episode looks pretty intense though, with the Alpha hunting Scott and his friends in the school.  I'm wondering if Derek is actually dead.  My guess is no.  Though he did seem "unconscious" at the least, so I'm wondering how he's going to heal, lol.

And tying the show's mythology to the real legend of the Wolfman was a nice touch.  Gives some good background to the Hunters and what their deal is.

Hate to admit it, but enjoying this show.  My record for crappy TV remains intact (don't get me started...(ABCFamily...))

Very curious about the Alpha.  The vet boss is overly obvious, so thinking not him.  I still have the teacher, the coach and as a random guess, a member of the Argent crew, just because it would be a good betrayal twist.

They are doing a lot more with the mythology than the original movie, but that didn't take much.  Let's hope they can keep up the enjoy factor.  I would have less of a problem if the bad guys weren't such one dimentional "I'M A BAD GUY" vibe, but we'll see how it goes.

Derek, as an obvious good guy, good be portrayed as less of a wild card, since the viewers know he isn't.  Best possible twist:  Immobile uncle is the uber bad guy!

I see this show like a guilty pleasure, kinda like Smallville was, ha ha.

I doubt the invalid uncle is a bad guy.  After all, didn't the Alpha kill his niece by tearing her in two?  The creepy teacher with the glasses seems to be the best candidate so far, but it could be something like Scott's actual dad, which would make sense as to why he didn't straight up kill Scott multiple times, and plus it would be consistent with the movies that his dad is also a wolf and be an interesting plot twist.

I really hope they set up Allison and Scott as eventually becoming enemies or star crossed lovers or something.  It would be interesting to see Allison join her family business as a Hunter and yet still have feelings for Scott.

And what's up with Jackson?  Eve since Derek scratched him on the neck he's been getting all weird, and Scott made a note that it smelled like he was dying.  The fact that the Alpha didn't kill him when he saw the claw marks says that he's possibly turning into a werewolf or something, but I don't think its that simple.  Wonder where they're going with that?

Okay, the episode where they were locked in the school wasn't as good as it could have been, and we're still no closer to figuring out who the alpha is (though I'm still thinking its Scott's Dad).  And the teen angst was on full throttle the next episode with the full moon making Scott all crazy.

At least we know Derek isn't dead, though Scott did kind-of sell him out as being a murderer.  And now we know the Hunters have people in law enforcement, and Auntie Kate is now onto the notion that Scott has something to do with Derek and the wolves.

In the meantime, Jackson keeps on sleazing on Allison, which I guess is fair considering Scott made out with his girlfriend first.  I'm still wondering what Jackson's wound from Derek is all about, since he seemed to be affected by the Alpha's howl in the school, just like Scott was, and the Alpha certainly noticed the wound.  I'm wondering if he's maybe turning into a werewolf, only much more slowly?  I hope they start answering that question soon.

Oh, and CSI Jackson also seemed to figure out that the fingernail in his car belonged to Scott... because for some reason he kept Scott's lacross glove that had the holes ripped in it?  That's a stretch, even for you, show.

Over-all though, the show is still really enjoyable.  Looking forward to watching the latest episode soon.

Ahem.  Suck it.

Girlfriend chick is still really hot.  Jackson is still really annoying and I wish someone would kill him, don't really care who at this point.

Yeah, I was kinda disappointed with the shocking twist that the Uncle was the Alpha.  That would mean that Derek and his sister were part of his pack, so why did he kill his niece?  I'm still really confused about that.  I'm also confused about his interest in Scott.  And now, I guess Scott and Derek are part of the same pack?

I actually liked Jackson in this episode.  He was actually kind of effective as an antagonist to Scott.  I guess we also got the answer on whether or not the scratch on Jackson's neck could turn him to a werewolf.  So if its deep enough, it can, but it works slower than a bite.  Now that the Hunters have their sites set on Jackson, things should get interesting.

Now that the Alpha has been revealed, hopefully we'll get a bit more intrigue concerning Scott and being pushed to give into his "evil wolf" side.

Only 3 more episodes to go.  Looking forward to them.

The new episode was pretty good.  Allison finally discovers her family's secret.  The Alpha finally reveals himself to Scott.  We get an explanation of why Derek's sister was killed.  We understand the people the Alpha has been killing were in some way linked to the fire that killed his family.  And we finally understand that Werewolves can pass on memories by sticking you in the back of the neck with their claws, which means Jackson isn't turning into a werewolf, but he does have some connection to Derek now.

The two big things I really liked in this episode...

The first was the reveal that the Vet Scott works for knows about Werewolves and he helps them out.  That was pretty cool, since I knew there was more to him than it seemed.

The second was when Derek was about to kill Jackson, and Scott shows up to stop him.  That was pretty bad ass, and well set up and shot.

I will say this though... how did Allison know that other girl made out with Scott?  Did I miss something?  She never seemed to have a clue about it before, but now all of a sudden she knows?  That was weird.  Also, Scott got pretty beat up this episode.  Clawed in the neck, tazed, and shot, all over the course of a single day, lol.

Looking forward to the finale.  Really want to see where they go with this.

Edit:  Oh yeah, and the Alpha's reference to basketball was great.  A nice nod to the original movies.  Not as good as "I want a bottle of jack" throwback a few episodes earlier, but still nice.

Here's a show that ended up being better than it had any right to be!  Kinda loved how things worked out, Derek ending up the Alpha is cool, hope he doesn't become a bad guy, I like him on this show, but it's better than Scott being the Alpha, which I thought might happen.  Fun show, very pulpy, but they did a neat job with the mythology and set things up well, and of course did their do diligence with regards to the teenage love/angst.  Looking forward to next season!  Plus, that chicks on the show are hot!

Yeah, the finale was really well done.  Good, satisfying conclusion, and good set up for next season.  Derek is now the Alpha after screwing over Scott and making Jackson a werewolf.  Things with Lydia are still up in the air since the Wolf Bite doesn't seem to be taking a hold on her.  Seems like more hunters are headed to town, and Allison's dad won't be able to do much to protect Scott from them.  I'm curious to know more about the Vet and how he seems to know about Werewolves.  That story thread kinda got lost in the final episodes.  And the Alpha's interactions with Styles was great.

"His username is Allison?  His PASSWORD is Allison too?"

"Yeah, still want him in your pack?"

Ha ha ha.  Best scene in the whole series.

They've also definitely set up some "Star crossed lover" thing with Scott and Allison.  I'm wondering if they'll bring in more supernatural stuff into the show next season?

Anyway, this show is definitely filling the void that Smallville used to take up.  Its got the same type of silly teen drama that show had, along with the cool supernatural elements and likable characters.
