If I were his manager, I would have suggested to take the Wolverine gig before I started going around pitching $130 million projects as if Black Swan wasn't some box office fluke - $300 million worldwide? Who saw that coming? I will be very impressed if Aronofsky can get this made at that number, and while I think he may be setting himself up for another crushing failure, $300 million for a lesbian ballerina horror film does say a lot.

Fingers crossed it does happen, though. I am in Aronofsky's camp no matter what.

If First Class is any indication, the returns of The Wolverine, no matter how he did with it, probably wouldn't have done anything to add to his rep. Right now he's got the hot, crossover artiste thing going for him. The studios will trip over themselves to be the ones to stake a claim in his big masterpiece. If it doesn't turn out that way, it won't be a big deal for them. Good risk/return potential.

I have a feeling The Wolverine will do a good bit better than First Class.................simply because of Jackman's involvement.  All First Class is doing is showing Fox how much money a Wolverine-less X-Men film will make them.
