I don't have much faith in the final product, but as a huge fan of the book, I can't not see it eventually.

I can't help but think of what genius visual insanity could have been unleashed if Argento had modern 3D equipment in the late 70's/early 80's.

I have to give this film a modicum of credit for finally casting a Dutchman as Van Helsing. 

This has a negative 100 percent chance of being good.

My brain tells me you're right. As does my gut. And heart. Yet somewhere in there, some organ (maybe my liver), is still holding out hope.

All we can hope for at this point is that Argento will be inspired enough by the new technology he is working with to create some crazy-ass sequences for us.  That and maybe some cool sets if the budget isn't too low.  Dario has never been a great writer and has never been that good at pulling great performances out of actors, so those are non-issues anyway.

I'm not expecting 70s/80s-level quality from Dario.  I'd settle for early 90s really.  I just want his visual creativity to come back into play in his work before he dies.  That's all he really had going for him to begin with.  Once he started trying his hand at making "normal" movies, his work got worse and worse with each new project.  Some directors can make great crazy films AND great realistic ones.  Dario is not one of those directors.  If he doesn't bring the crazy, you're going to end up with something ranging from pedestrian to awful.

This is coming from a fan.

For the sake of my sanity, Dario, bring back the crazy!!!!!!!!!!
