I was very excited to see the American Reunion movie. I saw American Pie just after college and remembered it was quite funny. Jim, Michelle, Oz, Heather, Stifler reunite for their high school...

I missed Zaborgar but caught Detective Dee and Yellow Sea at the Seattle film festival.
Chaser was my favorite film of 2009, and I was a little disappointed by Yellow Sea. It felt almost cartoonish in comparison. The characters seemed to value their lives so cheaply that it was hard to get invested in their stories. The first chapter I liked a lot though....
Would love to see a longer version of 13 Assassins. So glad I got to see that in the theater. Very fortunate.

The press screening of Yellow Sea was canceled, unfortunately, cause I was looking forward to it. The Chaser really is a magnificent film.
Detective Dee I missed as well! It played Tribeca this year and I've heard nothing but great things.

I suspect it's just a perverse quirk of mine that I'm not super huge into Tsui Hark's period films. My favorite film of his is Time and Tide, which I can watch over and over.
here is a great fight scene in the middle, but I like kung-fu fight scenes to have lots of long shots, whereas I find Tsui's stuff to involve a lot of quicker cuts because the fights involve really ambitious ideas that can't be practically done in long, medium shots. I also found some of the EPIC use of CGI to also be distracting (computer boats in the harbor and what not). There's a lot of fun stuff in the movie though....
