So obvious that it's official!

Sometimes the obvious choice is by far the best. I could happily see Jackman play Javert or ValJean personally.

Hey, if he can sell that A at the end of "Bring Him Home" I'm all for it (although I'd sort of rather see him play the darker role).

Cool.

I've never seen Les Mis, so can someone tell me if any of these roles call for tight pants or shirtless scenes?

Open-necked poet shirts are guaranteed. And probably some fairly tight pants, if they want to be accurate to the time period...

Yeah kinda piratey would be the best description.

The Rain Dog, Piratey?  Maybe the Pirate of...Penzance Himself, Rex Smith, could be...Javert!  Also, Emmy Rossum would be...Awesome, as JVJ's Daughter!

I'm in.

Someone fan the ladies. They seem flustered. Maybe I can get you some water?

I'm in, too. Love musicals, love Jackman, never seen Les Miserables in musical form.

I just saw Les Miz for the first time last night on stage.  Can't say I'm a fan, but I'm somewhat willing to give the film a shot as the story seems more cinematic than the stage could handle.

No word on the official casting announcement of Javert guys?

The Rain Dog, Allegedly, some self styled...Gladiator, will be...CROWEing as Javert!

...and with Geoffrey Rush being lobbied pretty hard to play Monsieur Thenardier - we have one very aussie looking Les Mis shaping up here.

Wasn't Rush in the 1998 film with Liam Neeson?

Yes. As Javert, actually.

This is shaping up really well.  Now excuse me while I go await Devin to throw a tantrum on BAD once he realizes that Helena Bonham Carter has been cast in another musical......biggrin.gif

I just came from seeing the touring show of Les Miserables. It was a damn fine show, with One Day More and Bring Him Home giving me the most goosebumps.  Then I remembered this thread.  Holy Jesus, this movie is going to be the greatest thing since sliced bread or the coming of Kurt Cameron's Left Behind Antichrist.  So excited.

Seriously, its one of my most anticipated of this year in a 2012 crowded with incredibly exciting releases.

AMEN to that about Helena...she ruins every role I enjoy...SO annoying.

so the full cast is now out (see here) http://www.cheaptheatretickets.com/les-miserables/ and not gonna lie - some surprising additions...! Taylor Swift?? I mean yes the girl can sing. Kanye will probably march on set as one of the students and rob her of singing Little Fall of Rain...if only!

Also funny how it's not in 3D (thank god) so they do have some sense among them...
