You forgot to mention that both "Smurfs" and "Mr. Popper" appear to have f**k all to do with their respective source material beyond the titular creatures.
Anyway, thank you for informing me that "Mr. Popper" is more (just slightly more) than just Jim Carrey smiling at penguins. I'm also getting from some other TV spots that the premise of the whole movie is that penguins would be sad living in a zoo with an exhaustively researched habitat and people who actually know what the hell they're doing when it comes to animal care, but happy living in an apartment with a random human family. Wonderful.
