Dungeon Siege III

The demo might have been an exercise in ennui, but there's apparently a decent loot-based RPG here:

As someone who roots for Obsidian and found the first two games reasonably good Diablo substitutes, I'm cautiously hopeful.

Really? The demo sucked. And the reviewer is someone I share a lot of opinions with. I'll keep an eye out for it then. My playthrough of the Assassin's Creed games isn't going to last that much longer.

I was underwhelmed with the demo as well, but a couple more good reviews and I may get it just for co-op with my buddy.

EGM gave it an 8/10, I think. Maybe I fucked up by not playing it with a controller.

I'll gamefly it. I'm a sucker for this type of game, and Diablo 3 is still a ways off. For those that like this type of grind - look for Titan Quest on the cheap - it's Diabo in the ancient world fighting mythological beasties.

Eeeh. Maybe it's only worth playing as a co-op experience, but the SP is surprisingly bland, especially for an Obsidian game. I feel like I've been killing the same bandit/spider a thousand times. I'm four hours in, and the best things I can say for it are that the looting is workmanlike, and that it's prettier than Titan Quest. The voice acting makes Two Worlds II look like Fitzcarraldo.

Yeah, the early reviews got my hopes up but the more I hear about this, the more I think I'll just wait for a Steam sale. I've heard nothing to remind me that this is an Obsidian game. No "This is a brilliant idea/ Motherfucker, this game just won't work" emotional rollercoaster.
