Rhona Mitra isn't a very good actress and she's probably too old* for the part, although physically, she is a nice match. I don't have a problem with Hendricks' body at all, she's beautiful, but she is simply wrong for the character. It's like Jon Peters wanting to cast Sean Penn as Superman, great actor, but so, so fucking wrong on every level (not that he would have ever taken it).

Of course Wonder Woman is supposed to be sexy and beautiful and all of that, but like Superman or Spider-Man, the character is rather body type specific. However awful Adrianne Palicki was or was not, she at least matched what the character requires. I say this all the time, but as a "serious" WW fan, and rather the character not be cast based on who fanboys most frequently masturbate to.

*Though one of my top known actress picks, Paz Vega, is the same age.

After Clash of the Titans, I thought Gemma Arterton would be a good choice. She even wore the damn bracelets in the flick. Besides, she's British which is close enough to Greek for us clueless Americanos.

Eh, could be worse casting, could be better. The most exciting thing here, really, is having people both talented and passionate about what they're adapting behind the camera and in front of it, instead of, say, Martin Campbell and Blake Lively.

I don't think that Hendrick's is anywhere near as wrong for the part as Sean Penn (or Dustin Hoffman) is for Superman. I see what you're saying -- she'd have to tone up pretty seriously -- but I think she could do it. She's tall and can project strength. She's a good enough actress. If she could get in great shape I don't think her boobs would get in the way of the character's physicality and they'd probably sell a few tickets. I can see the logic here.

EDIT: Tobey Maguire is short and sort of naturally stocky, and Spider-Man is typically lean and lanky, but with serious physical training, they made it work for the film. And jeez, let's not even get started on Michael Keaton's Batman. Dude is like 5' 7'. Perfect physicality is not necessary, it can be fudged by Hollywood magic.
