On Nolan, I immediately thought the same thing. It's a subject that's so in his wheelhouse and he's probably never going to get to do it. Oh, and is Alec Baldwin going to make a career out of being in Hughes' biopics?

I don't think Nolan will give up on making Mr. Hughes someday.  Hell, he hasn't yet.  If Beatty's film gets made and gets attention though, you can guarantee Nolan will wait quite awhile before trying to do his take.

 

That said, a lot of sites are saying that this ISN'T a Hughes biopic, but just happens to have Howard Hughes as a character in it..........................meaning Beatty isn't playing the lead in his film.  If that is the case, Nolan may go ahead and press on with Mr. Hughes after he tops off his work on TDKR.  After all, I doubt Chris would even be able to get his film into theaters before 2014 anyway........wheras Beatty's seems poised to hit next year if everything goes well.
