This trailer needs more nu-metal.

It's Forty Six & 2 by Tool. Not exactly nu- metal.

I get the feeling that enough Americans need to feel like the plucky all powerful good guy again right now considering the state of the world and the US's place in it that this film is going to do incredibly well domestically.

I just need the Rah Rah America stuff to feel natural within the film.

That punch to the groin will be the origin of Purple Skull.

Could say the exact opposite for people around the world, that will end up skipping it because, oh no, it's Captain America.

I give Marvel credit for pushing the "American" angle so much.  I was expecting a "Truth, Justice and All That Stuff" puss out when i first heard about this project.

Well, that's always been one of the great fears about tackling the property.

I was worried about the same thing.  It's good to see Marvel and Johnston just running with it!

That line in Superman Returns still pisses me off.

I wonder what the much more subdued International Tagline will be.

Also, I can't wait until the Cap mantle is passed on to Bucky!

I hate Tool. Passionately.

But otherwise, this was a great trailer, and I really hope this movie turns out to kick ass.

Great trailer. I'm honestly surprised the official tag line isn't "Heroes are Made in America"

I wish the music were a bit less contemporary, but that trailer makes the flick look like an amazing good time. So excited for this.

Because no one outside of America would go see it perhaps?

Lemme see an international trailer with that "heroes are made in America" line intact and then I'll declare that Marvel's got balls that clank.

This looks really good, by the way.

Hm I want to want to WANT TO believe, but that trailer didn't do much for me, apart from Hydra and Der Red Skull, which look kickass. Hoping hoping HOPING this will rock, but not with Tool on the soundtrack.

I genuinely think alot of people are totally overthinking the whole international box office thing.  It's easily going to make just as much as Thor, if not more.  Seems the American people think the rest of the world hates them more than they really do.  Colin Quinn has it right - no one hates America.  Every country in the world hates their NEIGHBOUR more than they hate America.

Seriously, Cap is cool. And the only people that actually hate America are not worth anyone's time.

Great trailer, and I agree that no more is the best approach. Let's keep as much of the movie unknown as possible, go into it fresh.

Had I the editing skills, I'd rescore this trailer using something like Sing, Sing, Sing (with a swing). I understand they're going for the younger demographic, but some really pounding swing music would have been a great way to score the trailers.

Alan Silvestri is doing the score for the film.  I think we can rest assured that Tool is probably not on the official soundtrack.  Here's hoping Silvestri can pull Marvel Studios' soundtracks out of the doldrums and give us something old-school and memorable.

As a member of the International community can I just say the whole "Made in America" routine works equally well on an ironic level, Team America?

Because, apparently, no one else will, I'm gonna say the Tool track is an awesome choice. Not just because it fucking kicks ass--people who can hate a track with that bassline are scientific oddities far as I'm concerned--but they also happened to choose the track talking about a single man gaining the extra genetic code necessary to evolve. It's perfect.

I don't mind the track in and of itself, but I find the juxtaposition with the period imagery jarringly anachronistic... just a bit.

Dynamite trailer. I can't speak fer dem furreners, but damn, that gets me wanting to piss red, white and blue. Love it.

On a more serious note, love the jumping on the grenade scene. From all the early trailers and whatnot, I think they very much captured Steve Rogers. Hope Captain America is displayed with the same care.

My dad's military.  Was in the Army for over twenty years, and currently works at the military hospital on base at Fort Bragg.  I showed him this trailer, and as soon as skinny Steve jumped on the grenade, my dad started clapping.  I cannot wait to watch this with the military crowd around here.  They're gonna put midnight-screening fanboys to shame.

Awesome.  I would so love to be a part of that audience.

As a filthly English swine I love that trailer.

Also I forget that you Americians have yet to see just how Awesome Richard Armatage is. I suggest the last two seasons of Spooks are worth a visit.

I'm another non-American who feels American patriotism can be a great advantage to many movies. I loved the patriotism in "Glory", for example. Even without that, the movie would have been solid, but the patriotism shining through made it even better. Like others, I was really pissed off by how the "American Way" line was fudged in "Superman Returns". I'm glad to see there doesn't seem to be a similar ambivalence going on with this movie. The patriotism in the original Superman movies was endearing. I love the part at the end of the second one where Superman flies to the White House with the American flag and promises to never let the president down again.

I am genuinely interested in how this plays abroad. The film looks great, but I gotta admit to finding the 'Heroes Are Made In America' stuff a little weird. Not because of any USA FUCK YEAH! sort of sentiments, but because it reminds me of the Doctor Manhattan sections of Watchmen for some bizarre reason. Still if audiences can deal with Iron Man 1 and 2 (which are kind of vaguely Republican in their idelogy) I'm sure they can deal with this.

See, that's why I think it's not even an issue.  I know I'm speaking very broadly here, but we're talking about a general movie-going public that took films like Transformers 2 to $850,000,000.  These people don't think politics, they don't think patriotism . . . in fact, talking to the two guys in my office, they don't think ANYTHING when watching films.  They want to (and yes, this is an actual quote) "pay my money, sit down and watch some action and not think about anything - during or after!".  I would dare say that the people who would let any kind of political agenda stop them from seeing Cap are likely not the people that would go see this kind of film regardless of where Cap's from.

I thought it was weird to hear Tool in a trailer for a period piece. That is a very minor complaint. It would be cool to see Cap beating up Nazis to Glenn Miller. It worked on The X-Files.

Exactly. If it annoys you that Captain America is American, you probably aren't going to see a movie called "Captain America".

One of the things I like about this trailer, is that it really establishes Cap's heart and his willingness to sacrifice himself for his fellow man. The other trailers show him wanting to join the cause, despite his lack of strength, but the grenade scene here says so much in such little time. I have a feeling that Joe J nailed this one.

You can complain about politics and men behind the scenes pulling strings in any generation's (and any country for that matter) war theater, but the bravery, sacrifice, and chutzpah of the men serving in the face of evil will be what this film honors. And, IMO, those qualities are universal.

And I'm also of the mind that  beyond the awesome ROCKETEER and the nearly salvaged THE WOLFMAN (he made a ton work IMO), that JP3, HIDALGO, JUMANJI, and HONEY I SHRUNK THE KIDS are solid kid adventures. Being a Spielberg acolyte here will only help. SAVING PRIVATE RYAN meets RAIDERS, as it were. Sign me up too, Colonel Phillips.

I wouldn't be surprised if CAP does at least as much as SPR worldwide, if not more. If it's ultimately good (and word is that it is). Also, pulpy comic adventure is also kid-friendly. SPR didn't have that demographic.
