Burn Notice Season 5

Thread Starter

Kind of an offputting season opener.. which I think fans of the show are supposed to not like.

We get a very brief explanation of Michael taking out members of the list in backstory mode.  (It would have been more exciting to have these be individual episodes of season 5, but whatever.)

Michael gets his wish to work with the CIA, and no one is happy. Sam or Fi and Michael doesn't get what he wants in the end either.

Hoping episode 2 gets the team back together..

Yeah, didn't feel this episode too much.. At least it appears they're willing to shake up the formula a bit.

2nd episode was better. 3rd episode was ACES. Loved the free yogurt for life card. Loved Michael's character that mixed up common phrases and loved Jesse in the nerd glasses.

Even the twist was awesome. Looks like Burn Notice is getting back on track.

This show was getting a bit stagnant for me, but I have been quite fond of this season thus far.  The premiere was eh, but the second was good and the third was a delight.  It was the most fun I have had watching Burn Notice in a long time.  It was funny and exciting.  Only three episodes in, but they have been quite good.

The hairstylists must be having fun with Michael's hair. Loved his degenerate look. I also laughed out loud and Jesse and Sam's attempted take down of the Big Show. Awesome. Burn Notice has gotten fun again.

Damn, hell of an end to 5x04. I was starting to like that character too.

Mikey means business cool.gif

The last couple of episodes have been as good as anything the show has ever done. Nice to have the USA flagship running at full steam again.

Oh man. This season is GREAT

This was a fun episode other than their horrible scam.  "Hey, give me every detail of your business and then we'll cut you in to ours" was the dumbest thing they've ever pulled.

We never did find out what happened to Jesse's porshe.

I'm having as much fun with this as I did in the early seasons. That's a pretty awesome return to form they pulled.

This is shaping up to be one of the better, if not the best, seasons of the show. Shame that apparently people have given up on it.

yeah.. this week's mission wasn't the greatest, but I loved meeting the two CIA dorks and their hatred of Sam.

I'm also very interested in seeing what Michael's double is up to..

Other than Micheal's hair, the season is looking good so far. The first couple episodes had some strangely low-key endings for this show, but the pace seems back to normal now. It's a good time.

Loving the almighty shit out of this season. They've got their mojo back. Loved Michael and Sam making the two douchebag CIA jerks eat their words. Classy.

And Michael's hair is awesome.

Farsight is right. That is one whack ass haircut that Michael is sporting.

I'll echo the love for this season.  The sense of fun is back.  Looking forward to the introduction of another big shadowy quasi-governmental organization with its sights set on Michael.  And I've finally warmed up to Jesse.  He seems to have found his place.

I'll give this season extra credit as I was convinced that Michael's handler with the CIA was going to be the bad guy and that he was secretly using Michael to achieve his own goals.  So they proved me wrong in a hurry.

Yeah, he seemed a little smarmy.  His replacement, Prof. Slater, seems a little too sincere.  Makes me wonder if we'll see her become a peripheral member of the team or a central part of the grand conspiracy.

Son of a bitch! I knew I recognized her from somewhere!

I doubt Micheal was able to kill "The Old Man" Im willing to bet he is behind the murder and is setting Micheal up for something big

Sam's reaction to Mikey blowing up the fuel truck was fucking priceless

Jesse had me rolling when he said he didn't know about the "4th guy who ate the 5th guy." Funny!

Jesse has been wayyyyyy better this season. I think the lifting of the burn notice burden has freed Mike and Jesse to loosen up, which has helped the fun factor.

Yeah yeah, Mikey has a new foe, but someone trying to set him up is just fun spy games.

The stupid haircut is gone!

This episode cemented the show's rejuvenation. Now if they could bring some of Mike's McGuyver stuff all would be well. But at least we're having fun.

Oh Gavin Rossdale has got a machine-head... err machine-gun not readily available for purchase yet. Awesome.

Michael's crazy stalker guy act was AWESOME. Best character I've seen him do yet.

Sidenote: Someone should make a youtube montage of his "Whew! I avoided getting killed" face that he makes each week.

Better are Bruce's, "Oh shit!" grimaces right as he leaps out of the way of gunfire or explosions. They're a brief lapse back into full-on hamming it up, and I love him for them.

Great episode. Even though I felt that the dinner distress call was just the guys being dumb in order to extend the plot.

It was driving me fucking crazy that I knew the bomb-maker from somewhere. Had to look it up on IMDB afterward. It was Lodz from CARNIVALE!

He was in the old show THE PRETENDER as well, as I recall. Very distinctive, high-society accent. He makes me feel low(er) class just listening to him!

Right, Sidney from The Pretender.  So it was kind of a reunion with Michael.

Michael's makeshift pop gun was pretty damn cool. Taze me brotha was pretty funny too. Only 2 episodes left!

I always love seeing Mike ruining people's plans all Bugs Bunny like.

So who is the huge Pretender fan at USA?  First Sidney shows up on Burn Notice, then the very next week it's Jared and on that exact same week Miss Parker shows up on Suits?  No way this is a cosmic coincidence.  I fully expect to see Broots in one of the shows this week.

IMDB says the guy who played Broots (Roger "Workman" Linus on LOST as well!) was already in Psych on USA.

Oh, shit.  Miss Parker was on Suits.  Christ, I had the biggest crush on her, being 15 and watching The Pretender.  Those skirts and high heels...

Anyway, yeah, Michael Westin was, once upon a time, on The Pretender!  He played Jared's evil Pretender brother!

Now, when does Jon Gries show up?  Oh, wait!  He was on Psych last season!

I loved it last night when Charisma Carpenter's boobs were dancing the tango. And then when Charisma Carpenter's boobs were creating that diversion and then when her boobs were setting up the bugging device and then in that stand-off.   Wait. what was I saying?

Oh yeah. Charisma Carpenter's boobs.

Another good episode. If this keeps up this will be my favorite season of this show.

Mid-season finale:  Is Larry dead?

Who didn't see psychiatrist guy as the baddie a mile a way?

The fact he was Michael's Mom's shrink was pretty awesome.

Body count of 3 peoples. That's like huge on this show.

Burn Notice is back tonight.

Been a fan since episode 1, but not sure I make it to the season finale this time.  Yet another big bad who seems to know everything.  More convuluted plans (that end up involving Michael's mother again).  Jesse shows up because apparently the actor's getting paid anyway, might as well throw him in a scene.  But most importantly, this show has lost its sense of fun.

Ironic, I suppose, an A-Team rip-off that, like the A-Team itself, goes down hill once the lead characters get rehired by the government.

Shrug. Bruce is still having fun.

"It's official: the guy's a dick."

I actually like Jesse now (didn't at first).  He and Sam seem to be having fun.  This season is boring me a bit, and considering how simple this show is, I have found part of last season and this season to be a bit convoluted.

You know how teasers for next week episodes always seem misleading...

I gotta say the season finale of Burn Notice next week looks like it might be FUCKED UP. I may be eating my words, but if one of the "team" was working for Ansen all along, then this show might be growing its balls back.

Pierce (? The lady boss) makes the most sense.

If the show had balls the would have Maddy as the mole.

Wow.  In addition to Eric Roberts as this week's guest villain, this episode was directed by Renny Harlin.  Not sure if that's more of a step up for the show or a step down for him.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

So the traitor was the least interesting guest star.

Weak, and ultimately meaningless.

I'm hopeful the season-ending twist shakes things up a bit, allow for some new dynamics, but I have a bad feeling it will be resolved (in an unbelievable manner) by the end of episode 1 next Summer.
