Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz Legally BONDed.

Thread Starter

According to People, Daniel Craig, 43, married Oscar-winning actress Rachel Weisz, 41, last Wednesday in New York. The bold-faced couple, who reportedly began dating last fall, will play newlyweds onscreen in this fall’s Dream House. While the U.K. newspaper The Daily Mail first reported the nuptials, People got confirmation of the hush-hush event from Weisz’s rep. The couple married in front of four people, including Craig’s daughter Ella, 18, and Weisz’s son Henry, 4.

...while elsewhere Darren Aronofsky debated hanging himself with a shower cord...

Great PR for the movie.

Goddamnit why does Craig have to take her away from me?

I thought there were rumblings that Craig was gay.

He's one of the few people I've never heard that about.

Rachel W can be my "beard" any day.

Everybody's gay in Hollywood.

What a wonderful couple. Rachel Weisz is one of my favorite actresses of all time (AGORA is my favorite film of 2010), and Daniel Craig is both Daniel Craig and James Bond. I wish them a very happy marriage!

Now this is a surprise. I didn't even know they were seeing each other.

I'm the only one who really deserves her.

Goddamnit when will she realize that?!!

I've actually followed this story with great interest for a while now. Check the ARONOFSKY AND WEISZ SPLIT thread for more info. Weisz and Craig have been keeping things low key though*, so it's understandable you'd have missed this

I do my best to take vicarious satisfaction from knowing that two of my favorite people are teaming up. Normally I don't at all care about celebrity couples, but Daniel Craig + Rachel Weisz? IMHO they are an ideal pairing

* Craig got all angry when it was brought up in an EW interview I read. They asked a question about how private he's been with the whole romance thing, and Craig is just like "and what did you infer from that? That it's private". The editor then inserted in italics "uncomfortable silence"

I too like the thought of sexy attractive people meeting up and having a sexy ever after and what not. But now I just feel sad and empty, and with an urge to curl up in the fetal position.

Granted most of my nights end that way, but still.

So is Darren Aronofsky drinking himself into a stupor right now, or resolutely sucking it up and saying "well, if you're gonna lose your girl to anyone, it might as well be James Bond"? Or both?

Yeah there is that, but then again one time I was actually about 10 feet from Craig , and I got to see him on Broadway where by chance he took his shirt off for charity after the performance,  so to some extent I feel like I've already won

Taken by a friend in NYC 11/25/09 when we went to see A STEADY RAIN (PS Hugh Jackman waved at me from across the street)

Drinking himself into a stupor hopefully. Hell I'd probably buy him a beer, tell him how great The Fountain was, then we can both have a good cry.

Then? Then it's watching the Princess Bride three times before passing out.

Didn't Aronofsky quit Wolverine because he didn't want to be away from his wife & kids or something? I wonder how that's working out for him.

Better Daniel Craig than Hugh Jackman?

It was something to do with the custody hearing for the kids, iirc, since they'd already been split.

I just think it's sort of awesome that 43 year old Craig isn't marrying a 20 year old. Huzzah for age appropriate people getting hitched!

The mistress will be a 20 year old.

I'm kind of hoping Aronofsky signs on to direct the next Bond picture and stages dangerously elaborate action sequences demanding that Craig do all his own stunts. Could be the best Bond film of all time!

Or the next Twilight Zone: The Movie.

I am not sure why that would matter. I am glad Weisz and Craig have teamed up, but if Craig had married someone in their 20s that would hardly have been age inappropriate

Because while it might be 'age appropriate,'  it's a damn common cliche to see some forty something guy dating and in love and 'soulmated' to some chick old enough to be his daughter. We're so used to it, we don't bat an eye at it - but its lame.

In all seriousness, I'd totally support an ARONOFSKY TTZ movie with Craig in the lead

I'll just have to respectfully disagree. It's not a cliche, it's just real life. It doesn't surprise me to see such couples because (not to generalize, but..) 99% of guys under 30-35 are, IMHO,  just completely uninteresting. They're not really men, they're overgrown frat boys. It seems unsurprising for someone my age to look at Daniel Craig - a cool, confident mature professional man - and think he'd make a good soulmate

Is it also true that older women get a pretty crummy shake in our society, and are virtually ignored by pop culture? Yes, absolutely and it is lame. But it's kind of a separate issue, IMHO

EDIT: my dad is 25 years older than my mom, and I've never thought there was anything 'cliche' or 'lame' about that. Again, it's just life
