The Titans also look to be doing some clashing....

Full disclosure:  I'm not a Tarsem fan, and in fact have a rather strong dislike of his work, but even I was intrigued by the prospect of him at least bringing a more original perspective to a genre of film that has been floundering post-Clash.  And I'm sorry, but aside from some admittedly lovely compositions, the acting on display here is on par with Clash, with a "chosen by the Gods to combat a 'fuck the gods' mentality" boilerplate storyline and some 300-esque, sepia-toned, obvious sets -- the only stand-out here is the prison of the Titans, its impact sadly lessened here by the ridiculous spectacle of Mickey Rourke's costume.  There are also a few chuckle-inducing shots, such as the guy from Twilight grunting, mouth wide open, as he goes head-first into the water as Poseidon.

And none of these observations have been helped by Tarsem's comments about the angle he's taking with the story here.

Did I just see a gilded Minotaur towards the end, or was that some immortal in a helmet? Despite Tarsem having a flair for visuals, I liked CLASH's slightly more varied palette and lived-in look better. But I'll give this a watch eventually. The gods certainly look younger than the gravitas-weilding thesps I'm used to.
