Two BMF's get cast in JOE sequel.

So are Ray Park (Snake Eyes) and Lee Byung-hun (Storm Shadow) coming back or not?  I'm pretty sure the initial announcements said they were and that confirmation from each actor has occurred as well.  Some sites are reporting that they will be back and others (CHUD included) make it sound like Tatum is the only returning actor.  Does anyone know one way or another?

The cast so far(?)....

Duke - Channing Tatum

Snake Eyes - Ray Park

Flint - D.J. Cotrona

Roadblack - Dwayne Johnson

Jinx - Elodie Yung

Blind Master - RZA

Storm Shadow - Lee Byung-hun

I'd personally like to see Dennis Quaid, Arnold Vosloo, and Chris Eccleston return as well.  As much as I'd love to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt back, I can see why they wouldn't bother since Cobra Commander's face is covered and his voice is distorted.

I guess we should be seeing the rest of the cast line-up rather quickly since it shoots in August.

Eugh... why is Tatum coming back?

The Rock!?  GOOD NEWS!

The director's my concern here. Sommers was a huge part of why the first movie worked. The new guy's biggest hit was the Justin Bieber movie. Decent cast or no, I worry.

And yes, I know the human tragedy that is worrying about how the goddamned G.I. Joe sequel is gonna turn out. I have a noose and a strong tree picked out already. It'll be okay.

Keep on wasting that potential, Dwayne.  Keep it right the fuck up.

This project was dead to me the day is was announced Rachel Nichols would not return.

I said it before, and I may end up being disappointed, but if there's anyone who knows how to shoot an action sequence, it's guys who make musicals. I think Chu will acquit himself just fine.

Bizarre how some people have "priced" themselves out of the series. They really couldn't get Marlon Wayans back?

I agree with this in theory.

Which makes me wonder... who are some directors who have gone from directing bonafide musicals to projects featuring 'actiony' action sequences?  Rob Marshall is a recent example that didn't seem to fit the bill (based on what I've read, since I haven't seen Pirates 4).  Were there any action sequences in Luhrmann's Australia?  I didn't see that either.

HarleyQuinn22, Hey, now that there are no more...Roadblocks, it is...Awesome to see, The Rock dishing food, quips and alot of heavy firepower with his main Axe!, in G.I. Joe 2!  It is good that...The Rock is, Finally in a film that will make him the action star that nearly everyone says he should be!  J Chu's G.I. Joe 2, will blow through the box office competition as if it were...Tissue paper!

This only served to remind me that I can't wait to see The RZA's kung fu movie Man with the Iron Fists.

Well there was Sylvain White and THE LOSERS I guess.  Though it depends on how bonafide you consider STOMP THE YARD.

Not really.  A horse stampede was the height of the action, and if you've seen The Lion King, you've seen the superior version of Australia's horse stampede.

No Wayans? Yay!

No Nichols? Nay!

The Rock? Yay!

Tatum? Fuck nay!

The RZA? Fuck yay! Even if it is simply a cameo.

The director? Fuck?

Gonna wait for rental anyway.

Still havent seen the first one (and I own it).  The Rock makes me want to see this though.

So, wait... we're not going to get another scene with Rachel Nichols on a treadmill?  Well, that's just not acceptable.

Yep. Though I do think he's probably having trouble getting filmmakers to cast him in more interesting material. The last time was Southland Tales, and that didn't do anyone any favors.

I don't think Be Cool helped much either.

Yup.  I get annoyed hearing him mentioned in the same breath as guys like Boll and Paul WS Anderson.  Sure, Van Helsing was a heaping pile of shit, but Deep Rising, The Mummy, and GI Joe are all well crafted B-movies.  Sommers was perfect for this franchise.

The Rock could be a lot of fun here, but this is pretty conventional casting.  I really dug the oddball casting from the first flick.  I might be able to muster up some enthusiasm if Eccleston returned.  Brendan Fraser too.  Also Rachel Nichols' chest.
