Yeah, I'm liking that plot too. Makes a lot of sense. I just hope that we eventually see the Space Jockey/Alien hybrid.

Yeah, I dunno what io9 is on about. This sounds cool as hell -- hard sci-fi of the kind the other Alien movies only really allude to. Maybe a return to the genre that earned him so much respect will finally energize Scott, who really hasn't made a remarkable movie since Gladiator (I liked Body of Lies though).

If you haven't seen the director's cut of Kingdom of Heaven, I would highly recommend you do so. It is up there with Ridley's finest works. *End Derail*

BLACK HAWK DOWN kicks GLADIATOR's ass. But I agree with the sentiment - he's had a terrible decade.

Fuck, you're right. I forgot the Kingdom of Heaven DC -- I have a lot more love for that movie than I do for Gladiator, which I've always been kind of indifferent to.

eh, sounds like a plot some fanboy came up with from reading interviews and that awful script called "Alien Harvest".  Actually read some simular "ideas" on an Alien forum many months ago.

This sounds NOTHING like ''Alien: Harvest''...that was godawful...

 

Well, Fox's OFFICIAL synopsis of  'Prometheus' certainly doesn't NEGATE the above...

 

"Visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define, creating an original science fiction epic set in the most dangerous corners of the universe. The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life's ultimate mystery."

 

...nor does it confirm.

Space Jokeys, Alien creatures before they become Xenomorphs... illusions to them creating life on earth... and the Direlect Ship from Alien... the elements are there.
